GREENVILLE, N.C.  – William & Mary women's cross country blitzed the field at the Pirate Cross Country Invitational on Friday morning at the Lake Kristi Course. The Tribe placed five runners in the top 10 on the way to winning the team title in dominant fashion.
 
The Green and Gold outdistanced second-place George Mason by nearly 100 points, 19-118. The Tribe finished ahead of four CAA opponents in Charleston (fifth at 184), Elon (14th at 347), Campbell (19th at 588) and UNCW (20th at 595).
 
Senior Kyra Holland led the way for the Tribe finishing as the runner-up in a time of 21:07.1. Juniors Sofia Istnick and Arianna DeBoer followed closely behind to give the Tribe three runners in the top five, placing third (21:35.8) and fourth (21:39.3), respectively.
 
Junior Catherine Garrison and freshman Molly Weithman gave W&M all five of its scoring runners in the top 10. Garrison covered the 6K course in 21:48.0 to finish sixth, while Weithman was ninth at 21:56.8.
 
On the men's side, sophomore Hayes Trapp led the way for W&M with a third-place finish, covering the 8K course in 23:45.7. As of 7 p.m. on Friday, the results for the men's race were not yet official. W&M finished in the top four in the 18-team field, but the final results have not yet been updated.
