- The Tribe hosts Drexel on Saturday, opening CAA play with two-straight home games for the 11th time in the program's 39-year history in the league. W&M won both games on four occasions, including each of the last two times in 2018-19 and 2021-22.
- W&M has started 2-0 in CAA play in four of the last six years and 12 times overall in school history. The Tribe started CAA play 2-0 under head coach
Dane Fischer in 2019-20 and 2021-22.
- Since the 2006-07 season, W&M leads the all-time series with Drexel at 18-15, including a 9-7 mark inside Kaplan Arena.
- W&M head coach
Dane Fischer (2002) and Drexel head coach Zach Spiker (2000) know each other from their days at Ithaca College. Fischer credits Spiker as being instrumental in helping him get into coaching.
- Dating back to last season, the Tribe has won nine home games in a row, including a 6-0 mark this season. The win streak is the seventh-longest in Kaplan Arena history and the 28th longest active streak in the country. The facility record is 14 over two seasons in 2014-15. The current streak is the longest since an 11-game home win streak over two seasons in 2019-20.
- The Tribe ranks 45th nationally in 3-pointers made per game (9.3) and 29th in 3-pointers attempted (27.2). In total, 47.4% of the Tribe's field goal attempts come from 3-point range and 36.1% of its scoring comes on 3-point field goals. Those numbers rank 13th and 47th nationally, according to KenPom.com.
- The Tribe has used the free throw line to its advantage this season. W&M ranks second in the CAA in free throws made per game (16.2) and third in FT% (74.4). The Tribe is 65th nationally in % and 60th in free throws made. W&M owns three of the top free throw shooters in the league.
Gabe Dorsey leads the league at 93.2%, which is also 12th nationally.
Trey Moss (75.9%) and
Chase Lowe (72.9%) rank 12th and 14th, respectively.
- Sophomore
Chase Lowe recorded his second double-double of the season in the Tribe's CAA-opening win over Elon with 18 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Lowe has been a stat stuffer in 2023-24 and is one of four players in the CAA to rank in the top 25 in scoring, rebounding, and assists. He ranks 12th in the CAA in rebounding (6.1) and 18th in both in scoring (12.3) and assists (2.6).
- Junior
Gabe Dorsey continues to be one of the top shooters in the country. After ranking fourth in the country in 3-point % last season, he is currently fifth nationally in total 3's made (50) and seventh in 3-pointers per game (3.6), as of Jan. 5. Dorsey is shooting 43.1% from distance this season, which ranks second in the CAA and 27th nationally.
- As the sophomore
Charlie Williams goes, so goes the Tribe. In W&M's six wins, the 6-10 forward is averaging 12.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. In the CAA-opening win over Elon, Williams tallied 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds. Over the last six games, he is averaging 13.8 points per game, including back-to-back 20-point efforts at Richmond (21) and at home vs. Old Dominion (23). He knocked down five 3-pointers in both contests.
- After a slow start to the 2023-24 season, junior
Caleb Dorsey started to come into his own. Over the last six games, he is averaging 13 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest. Included in that stretch, he posted double-doubles at Richmond (13 points and 10 rebounds) and against VUL (career-highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds). On the year, he leads the team and ranks ninth in the CAA in rebounding (6.4).
- Sophomore
Trey Moss has demonstrated his ability to score during his first season with the Tribe. On three occasions this season, he has scored a career-high 20 points, including W&M's win over Old Dominion on Dec. 6. Moss ranks 12th in the CAA at 13.5 points per game. He previously scored 20 points on the road at Air Force and Norfolk State.
- 2020 graduate Nathan Knight, who was the National Mid-Major Player of the Year in 2020, signed an NBA 2-way deal with the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics prior to the start of the season and is currently with the Motor City Cruise in the NBA G-League. He has played 108 games over his three-year NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks. Knight is the third W&M player, joining Marcus Thornton (Cleveland Cavaliers 10-day contract in 2018) and Daniel Dixon (Boston Celtics preseason Exhibit 10 deal in 2017) to sign an NBA deal since 2017.
- A trio of former W&M players are currently on coaching staffs in the NBA and NBA G-League. Jim Moran '01 is the head coach of the Rip City Remix, which is the G-League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers. Sean Sheldon '16 is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz. Daniel Dixon '17 is an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Blue, the NBA G-League program of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
