WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary standout left tackle
Charles Grant was recently honored as a finalist for the Wells Fargo Advisors Humanitarian Award by the Touchdown Club of Richmond.
The award is presented annually by the club to a student-athlete from a collegiate football program in the Commonwealth of Virginia who has gone above and beyond the expectations to give back to his school and community. Additionally, the finalists demonstrated a positive impact on the campus as well as in the community.
Highlighting Grant's service and commitment to the community was becoming a bone marrow donor last summer, which signified the importance of the team's annual Be The Match drive.
On the field, Grant earned postseason All-America accolades by five organizations in 2023, including the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), the Associated Press, Stats Perform, FCS Football Central and Phil Steele.
After emerging as one of the nation's best offensive linemen as a sophomore in 2022, Grant was even more dominant as a junior this fall and headlined one of the nation's top offensive lines. In addition to starting all 11 games at left tackle, the two-time first-team All-CAA selection helped W&M rank 13th nationally in rushing (196.9).
Ranked as the CAA's top tackle in pass blocking efficiency, Grant allowed just one sack on 334 pass blocking snaps and graded better than 90 percent in seven games. He finished the season grading out at 92 percent with 40 pancakes.
