Clear Bag Policy
William & Mary Athletics, in conjunction with the William & Mary Police Department, has implemented a clear bag policy that regulates the size and type of bag that may be carried into W&M Athletics facilities during the 2023-24 year, including Busch Field, Kaplan Arena, Martin Family Stadium, Plumeri Park, and Zable Stadium. • The Matchup
William & Mary looks to add another regular season sweep to their resume, welcoming in the Monmouth Hawks on Sunday for a 1 p.m. tip. The game will be broadcast on FloHoops, while W&M also celebrates National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
• The Opponent
Monmouth enters as winners of four of their last five after dropping their conference opener to the Tribe. The Sunday matchup will be the Hawks' second game in the 757 this weekend after beating Hampton 69-61 on Friday. Currently sitting tied for fourth in the CAA standings, Monmouth leads the league in blocked shots and rebounding margin.
• Last Time Out
W&M returned to their winning ways with a 61-50 win over Hofstra on Friday, picking up the regular season sweep over the Pride. Cassidy Geddes led the way with a career-high 22 points, aided by 4-of-7 shooting from deep. Kayla Beckwith grabbed seven of her eight boards on the offensive end for the Tribe who outscored Hofstra 25-14 in the fourth.
•Fresh Five
Erin Dickerson Davis rolled out her sixth different starting five on Friday night. Only Cassidy Geddes and Alexa Mikeska remained in the first five after the Towson game last week. Dickerson Davis also was not shy about getting the bench involved, 11 players playing in Friday's win. W&M turned to Geddes, Monet Dance, Kayla Beckwith, Rebekah Frisby-Smith and Anahi-Lee Cauley to get them over the finish line. Those five played the final 8:11 of the game.
• A Sweep to Take Pride in
W&M picked up the regular season sweep against Hofstra on Friday, winning 61-50 after beating the Pride 48-46 in Hempstead on Jan. 7. The Tribe now holds a six-game winning streak over Hofstra, and Erin Dickerson Davis is undefeated against the Pride in her time at W&M.
• Not Bad, Rook
Freshman guard Cassidy Geddes has impressed all year, but has been extra impressive over the last week. Geddes has scored 20 and 22 in W&M's last two Friday games, both good for career-highs. Geddes scored 17 of the Tribe's 25 points in the fourth quarter vs. Hofstra, and finished the game with a career-best 8-of-10 mark from the free throw line.
• Home Sweet Home
After opening conference play with four of their first six contests away from home, the Tribe will play three straight inside the friendly confines of Kaplan Arena. W&M boasted a 7-2 record at home in CAA play last year.
•We Meet Again
The Tribe took care of Monmouth in thrilling fashion when the teams met in New Jersey on Jan. 5 in the CAA opener, 70-66. W&M held the Hawks scoreless over the game's last 4:24 in the win, while Anahi-Lee Cauley's career-high 22 led the way. Bella Nascimento scored 20 while Nylah Young was good for 17, marking the only time W&M has had three player with 17+ this year.
• Cleaning it Up
The Tribe didn't have their cleanest game on Friday against Hofstra, turning it over 19 times on the evening, but did a great job taking care of the ball down the stretch. W&M didn't turn the ball over once in the game's final 6:53 on their way to a 5-2 start in CAA play.
• Nothin' But NET
The Tribe have been as high as 158 in the NET this year, currently sitting at 169 as of Tuesday. The 158 mark is the Tribe's highest rating in the NET since the end of the 2019-20 season when they were 119.
• O-Boards for Beckwith
Kayla Beckwith grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in Friday's win over Hofstra with seven of those rebounds coming on the offensive end. Beckwith, making her first start since Nov. 15, added six points in the victory. It was her eighth game with six-plus rebounds.
• Protecting the Rock
W&M has won the turnover battle in nine of the last 10 games and have a 8-4 record when doing so this season.
• Halftime Leads
Holding a one point at the half on Friday, W&M improved to 7-3 this year when leading afer the first 20 minutes. The Tribe is now 19-4 under Erin Dickerson Davis when leading at the break over her first two seasons.
• 60 is the Magic Number
The Tribe has held their opponents under 60 points in seven of their nine wins this season, while opponents have scored over 60 in eight of the nine W&M losses. The Tribe is 14-3 under Erin Dickerson Davis when holding teams below 60. While team's have had a mixed bag of success scoring in the 60s vs. W&M, opponents are 25-4 against them when scoring 70+ since 2020-21.
• Formidable Opponents
William & Mary's non-conference slate was set up to be a challenging one and proved to be. The seven teams who beat the Tribe owned a combined record of 62-18 in the non-conference.
