TRIBE NOTES

• The Matchup
William & Mary looks to pick up a season sweep against the Hofstra Pride when they welcome them to Kaplan Arena on Friday night. Tip is set for 7 p.m. on FloHoops.

• The Opponent
Hofstra enters Friday's matchup at 1-4 in CAA play and 7-9 overall. After winning their conference opener vs. UNCW, Hofstra has lost four in a row starting with the loss to W&M in Hempstead. Despite the poor CAA mark, Hofstra sits third in the conference in scoring defense, defensive FG% and rebounding margin.

• Last Time Out
W&M had their historic CAA start halted by Towson on the road Sunday, losing 80-64. After holding an early lead, the Tigers used hot jump shooting to get past the Tribe. Bella Nascimento scored 21 for W&M while Nylah Young chipped in 14.

•Starting Strong
The Tribe has been a strong first quarter team for much of the season, using a +34 scoring margin in the opening frame to set the tone. W&M has held the lead after the first quarter in six of their eight wins this season and held teams below 10 points three times in the first.

• Workin' Overtime
The overtime win over Delaware pushed William & Mary's OT record to a perfect 5-0 all-time under Erin Dickerson Davis. Last Friday's game was the Tribe's first OT action of the year, as W&M won all four of their overtime games last campaign in Davis' first season.

• Home Sweet Home
After opening conference play with four of their first six contests away from home, the Tribe will play their next three inside the friendly confines of Kaplan Arena. W&M boasted a 7-2 record at home in CAA play last year.

•We Meet Again
The Pride will be the first team W&M sees for a second time this season, with the teams having met on Jan. 7 on Long Island. W&M survived a 48-46 slugfest in the first meeting.  Bella Nascimento hit a baseline jumper that served as the game-winner with five seconds left. The 48 points were the least the Tribe has scored in a winning effort since 12/16/21, also scoring 48 to beat George Mason. Erin Dickerson Davis is 3-0 vs. Hofstra, including a postseason win last year in the CAA quarterfinal.

• Seeing Double
Alexa Mikeska and Nylah Young left  their fingerprints all over the game vs. Delaware, each earning double-doubles with 10 points and 10 boards and 11 and 10 respectively. It was the first time W&M had two players with double-doubles since Nyla Pollard and Victoria Reynolds did it on 11/27/18. As a guard Mikeska has been on a tear on the glass, grabbing 9+ rebounds in three of the last five.

• Nothin' But NET
The Tribe have been as high as 158 in the NET this year, currently sitting at 169 as of Tuesday. The 158 mark is the Tribe's highest rating in the NET since the end of the 2019-20 season when they were 119.

• 20 Piece
Bella Nascimento's 21 on Sunday vs. Towson was her fifth game this season with at least 20 points, good for most on the team. The transfer guard now has nine such games in her career after accomplishing the feat four times last year at Manhattan. Nascimento has led the Tribe in scoring eight times this year and found her way to double figures in 13 of the first 17 games.

• Protecting the Rock
W&M has won the turnover battle in eight of the last nine games and have a 7-4 record when doing so this season.

• Glass Cleaners
The Tribe hit the glass hard in the OT win vs. Delaware last Friday, grabbing a season-high 50 rebounds leading to a season's best +13 margin on the boards. It was the first time W&M snagged 50 rebounds since Nov. 2018.

• Not Bad, Rook
Freshman guard Cassidy Geddes has impressed all year long but turned in her best game of the season on vs. Delaware, scoring a career-high 20 points with seven boards, also a career-high. Geddes has scored in double figures five times so far in her freshman campaign.

• 60 is the Magic Number
The Tribe has held their opponents under 60 points in six of their eight wins this season, while opponents have scored over 60 in eight of the nine W&M losses. The Tribe is 13-3 under Erin Dickerson Davis when holding teams below 60. While team's have had a mixed bag of success scoring in the 60s vs. W&M, opponents are 25-4 against them when scoring 70+ since 2020-21.

• Formidable Opponents
William & Mary's non-conference slate was set up to be a challenging one and proved to be. The seven teams who beat the Tribe owned a combined record of 62-18 in the non-conference.
