- W&M and Stony Brook split their first two meetings after the Seawolves joined the league last season with each winning on its home court. Both contests came down to the wire with the Tribe winning by three, 77-74, in Williamsburg and SBU by five, 71-66, in OT on Long Island.
- Defense and rebounding led the Tribe in its road win at Hampton on Thursday. The Tribe tallied the most offensive rebounds (17), most second chance points (17) and biggest rebounding margin (+13) against a D1 opponent this season. W&M also turned in its second-best defensive efforts in terms of points (61), field goals % (38.0) and points per possession (0.95) against a D1 opponent this season on Thursday.

Caleb Dorsey recorded his third double-double in the last eight games in the Tribe's road win at Hampton on Thursday. He finished with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Over the last eight games, he is averaging 11.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest. He notched his other two double-doubles at Richmond (13 points and 10 rebounds) and against VUL (career-highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds). On the year, he leads the team and ranks ninth in the CAA in rebounding (6.4).
- Over the last two games, the Tribe has committed only 10 total turnovers for an average of five per game. W&M had four against Drexel on Jan. 6, which ranked third in school history in terms of fewest turnovers in a game, and followed it with six at Hampton. On the year, W&M ranks 59th nationally in fewest turnovers per game at 10.8. In CAA play, the Tribe's starting guard combo of
Chase Lowe (9/0) and
Trey Moss (9/2) have dished out 18 assists compared to just two turnovers.
- Sophomore
Trey Moss scored a career-high 22 points against Drexel on Jan. 6. It was his fourth 20-point game of the season, the most among Tribe players. He has scored in double figures on 13 of the Tribe's 16 games and ranks 10th in the CAA at 13.9 points per game.
- W&M ranks 24th nationally in 3-pointers attempted (27.3) and 49th in 3-pointers made per game (9.1). In total, 47.3% of the Tribe's field goal attempts come from 3-point range and 36.2% of its scoring comes on 3-point field goals. Those numbers rank 16th and 47th nationally, according to KenPom.com.
- Sophomore
Chase Lowe recorded his second double-double of the season in the Tribe's CAA-opening win over Elon with 18 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Lowe has been a stat stuffer in 2023-24 and is one of five players in the CAA to rank in the top 25 in scoring, rebounding, and assists. He ranks 13th in the CAA in rebounding (6.0), 17th in assists (2.7), and 20th in scoring (11.9).
- Lowe is one of the best in the country at getting to the free throw line. According to KenPom.com, he is eighth nationally in free throw rate (85.4) and 28th in the country in drawing fouls at 6.9 per 40 minutes. Lowe has made 66 free throws on the season, which ranks second in the CAA and 81st nationally.
- Junior
Gabe Dorsey continues to be one of the top shooters in the country. After ranking fourth in the country in 3-point % last season, he is currently eighth nationally in total 3's made (53) and 12th in 3-pointers per game (3.3), as of Jan. 12. Dorsey is shooting 41.1% from distance this season, which leads the CAA and 39th nationally. He also leads the CAA in true shooting % (66.1).
- As the sophomore
Charlie Williams goes, so goes the Tribe. In W&M's six wins, the 6-10 forward is averaging 12.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and four assists per game. In the CAA-opening win over Elon on Jan. 4, Williams tallied 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Over the last eight games, he is averaging 12.3 points per game, including back-to-back 20-point efforts at Richmond (21) and at home vs. Old Dominion (23). He knocked down five 3-pointers in both contests.
- 2020 graduate Nathan Knight, who was the National Mid-Major Player of the Year in 2020, signed an NBA 2-way deal with the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics prior to the start of the season and is currently with the Motor City Cruise in the NBA G-League. He has played three years in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks. Knight is the third W&M player, joining Marcus Thornton (Cleveland Cavaliers 10-day contract in 2018) and Daniel Dixon (Boston Celtics preseason Exhibit 10 deal in 2017) to sign an NBA deal since 2017.
- Along with Knight in the NBA G-League, seven other former Tribe standouts are playing professionally in overseas -
Anders Nelson (Starwings in Switzerland), Andy Van Vliet (Trefl Sopot in Poland), Justin Pierce (Veertien Mie in Japan), David Cohn (VfL SparkassenStars Bochum in Germany), Omar Prewitt (Tofas Bursa in Turkey), Marcus Thornton (Lavrio in Greece), and Terry Tarpey (AS Monaco in France).
- A trio of former W&M players are currently on coaching staffs in the NBA and NBA G-League. Jim Moran '01 is the head coach of the Rip City Remix, which is the G-League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers. Sean Sheldon '16 is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz. Daniel Dixon '17 is an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Blue, the NBA G-League program of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
