JACKSONVILLE, Fl. – In a season full of big-time moments, Liv Cantby capped off her 2023 campaign on a high note, placing in the top-20 at Thursday's NCAA East First Round. Competing at the University of North Florida, Cantby squared off against some of the nation's top athletes in the javelin throw.
The Denmark native was in the first flight and posted a mark of 46.47m (152-5) on her opening throw to finish 19th overall. The distance is the third-best in Tribe history. It was also the third NCAA appearance for Cantby, who qualified as a freshman and sophomore while at UT-Arlington. And, in her first season with the Green and Gold, she was nothing short of dominant.
Her prelims performance came on the heels of a gold medal win at the ECAC Championship, where she posted a throw of 46.80m (153-06) to break a school record that had stood since 1988. Cantby also clinched podium time at the CAA Championship earlier this month, finishing third with a throw of 41.97m (137-08.6).
