Matthew Feinstein Earns CSC Academic All-District

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William &  Mary men's golf graduate Matthew Feinstein was selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
 
The 2023 Academic All-District® At-Large Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender. The At-Large program includes women's beach volleyball, women's bowling, women's crew/rowing, men's and women's fencing, women's field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's Rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo, and men's wrestling.
 
Feinstein was the first Tribe player since 2019 to earn All-CAA honors as a member of the second team. He led the Tribe with a 72.69 stroke average, which was the third best in school history. He also topped the team in wins (623) and winning % (75.6). Feinstein posted 10 rounds of par or better during the season, which ranks seventh in school history.
 
During the fall, Feinstein won the VCU Shootout and in the process, was named the CAA Player of the Week. He birdied the final hole to win the event and shoot a program and tournament record 15-under 201. Feinstein also fired 18-hole (7-under 65) and 36-hole (10-under 134) school-record marks at the VCU Shootout. In total, he had six top-20 finishes in 2022-23, including a top 10 at the Wildcat Spring Invitational and an 18th-place showing in his final collegiate event at the CAA Championship.

Feinstein wrapped up his career ranked among the Tribe's all-time leaders in stroke average (11th at 74.58), rounds played (sixth at 106) and rounds of par or better (ninth at 23).
 
Academically, Feinstein earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance last May and is enrolled in the MBA program at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business. He is a five-time W&M Provost Award winner and was named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll each of her seasons on campus. Feinstein was also a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the GCAA in 2021.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Each institution is limited to four nominees for tennis
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages.
