Tribe Baseball Heads to Greensboro For Series With NC A&T

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - William & Mary baseball is back on the road this weekend for a key CAA series with conference newcomer North Carolina A&T beginning Friday evening. The Tribe will be looking for its sixth straight series win and fifth straight conference series victory.

The series will mark the first meeting between the two programs as North Carolina A&T joined the CAA prior to the 2022-2023 academic year. The two teams will get together Friday at 6:00 p.m., Saturday at 3:00 p.m., and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Reigning CAA Rookie of the Week Tank Yaghoubi has been on a tear of late. The first-year outfielder is riding a seven game hitting streak and has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games. Yaghoubi scored a pair of winning runs and the tying run in the Tribe's Sunday win over Elon last Sunday.

Ben Williamson has been a factor all season for the Tribe and leads the CAA in batting average, on base percentage, OPS, and hits. The senior third baseman is also top five in the league in slugging, runs scored, RBI, triples, and walks. Williamson is top-10 in the league in doubles, homers, and stolen bases.

Tribe pitcher Casey Green made his season debut last weekend and tossed 1.0 scoreless innings. Green made 10 starts last season and accumulated a 3.29 ERA with 26 strikeouts. The tall right hander allowed opponents to hit just .232 over 38.1 innings pitched.

The Tribe bullpen has done a good job shutting the door with a late lead this season. When leading after the sixth, WM is 16-2 on the year. The team is 17-1 leading after seven and a perfect 19-0 when taking a lead into the ninth.

Seven Tribe pitchers have tossed at least 30.0 innings on the season, each of those seven arms has a WHIP under 1.40 on the season, and an opponent batting average against of under .250.

Six has been the magic number for the William & Mary offense this season. When scoring at least six runs, the Tribe is 17-2 on the season. The Tribe is 9-8 in one run games this season, but has won eight of the last nine one run games and seven straight.
