WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - William & Mary baseball travels to Fairfax for a midweek game at George Mason Tuesday afternoon. The Tribe is coming off a 3-2 week which featured a 2-1 CAA weekend at Hofstra.
George Mason enters Tuesday's tilt on a seven-game winning streak, while the Tribe will look to replicate the 4-3 win over the Patriots Feb. 28 at Plumeri Park. William & Mary scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to win the game, highlighted by a
Nick Lottchea walk-off single. The Tribe has won nine straight against George Mason.
Ben Williamson has been on a tear of late, with 15 hits over the Tribe's last nine weeks. During that two week stretch, Williamson is hitting .469 with 11 runs scored and 9 runs driven in. The third baseman has hit three homers, two doubles, and has a triple over that time period.
Williamson ranks first in the CAA in on base percentage and OPS, while ranking second in batting average, fifth in slugging, second in hits, fifth in runs scored, and eighth in both RBI and walks. The two-time All CAA selection has twice as many multi-hit games (12) as strikeouts on the season (6).
Freshman
Tank Yaghoubi has started the past seven games for William & Mary and has made the most of the opportunity. Yaghoubi is hitting .347 over that time span and is riding a seven game hitting streak entering Tuesday's play. The outfielder has driven in eight runs and scored seven times over the past seven ball games.
Over the last six games, shortstop
Luca Danos has nine hits. The sophomore has a pair of doubles to go with seven runs scored and eight runs driven in. Danos was 4-10 over the weekend at Hofstra.
William & Mary ranks in the top 15 nationally with an ERA of 2.96. Over the past eight games the team has allowed just 19 earned runs, just over two earned runs per contest. The team has allowed just 12 earned runs over the first six games of CAA play.
