- Sunday's match-up with VUL marks the Tribe's second against a non-Division I opponent this season. W&M has played a non-DI opponent in 16 of the last 17 years. Over that stretch (21 games), W&M has won those games by an average margin of 41 points. The Tribe has scored at a 93.2 points per game clip in those contests.
- VUL is the second National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) team W&M has play this season. The Tribe downed Regent, 84-29, on Nov. 6. Five of the Dragon's 14 games have come against D1 opponents, and Sunday will be their fifth in the last eight days.
- Sophomore
Charlie Williams has been on a tear of late, posting career scoring nights in the last two games. Following a team-high 21 points at Richmond, Williams bettered his career mark with 23 in the win over ODU. He knocked down five 3-pointers in both contests. He has scored in double figures in three of the last four games. Over that stretch, he is averaging 15.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
- In each of the last two games, junior
Caleb Dorsey bettered his career-high in scoring. On Wednesday night, he scored all 17 points in the second half to help W&M to a win over Old Dominion, hitting 6-of-7 from floor and 5-of-6 from 3. In the prior game at Richmond, Dorsey notched his first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Over the last four games, he is averaging 11 points and seven rebounds per contest. He is 10-of-21 (47.6%) from 3-point range over the last three games. On the year, he ranks 17th in the CAA in rebounding (5.6).
- Sophomore
Trey Moss has demonstrated his ability to score during his first season with the Tribe. In three of the last six games, he has scored a career-high 20 points, including W&M's win over Old Dominion on Wednesday. Moss ranks 12th in the CAA at 13.9 points per game. He previously scored 20 points on the road at Air Force and Norfolk State.
- The Tribe connected on double-digit 3 pointers in each of its last two games, including 15 in the win at Old Dominion on Wednesday. It marked the second time this season that W&M hit 15 or more 3-pointers in a game. The Tribe ranks 16th nationally in 3-pointers attempted (28.6) and 18th in 3-pointers made per game (9.9). On Nov. 11, W&M knocked down 18 3-pointers, which ranks as the third most in program history, at George Washington. It was the most for a CAA program against a DI opponent since 2020 and the second most for a team nationally against a D1 opponent this season, as of Dec. 7.
- W&M has been hindered by injuries throughout the 2023-24. Two returning starters from the 2022-23 season –
Noah Collier and
Matteus Case – have missed seven games apiece so far, while graduate guard
Sean Houpt, who started the Tribe's first six games, has missed the last four due to injury. W&M played with just eight healthy players (six scholarship players) in its win over Old Dominion on Wednesday. Combined between Collier, Case and Houpt, the Tribe is without 31.7 points and 11 rebounds per game.
- Junior
Gabe Dorsey continues to be one of the top shooters in the country. After ranking fourth in the country in 3-point % last season, he ranks second nationally in total 3-pointers (38) and fourth in 3-pointers per game (3.8), as of Dec. 7. Dorsey is shooting 44.7% (38-of-85) from distance this season, which ranks second in the CAA and 35th nationally.
- Sophomore
Chase Lowe has made a significant impact in his second season, averaging 12.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He is one of two players in the CAA to rank in the top 25 in all four categories. Lowe is 17th in the league in scoring, 14th in rebounding, 12th in assists, and 21st in steals. He tallied a career-high 22 in the win over UMBC. Lowe also ranks second in the CAA in player efficiency rating (29.3).
- The Tribe has used the free throw line to its advantage this season. W&M ranks third in the CAA in free throws made per game (16.2) and fifth in free throw % (73.0). The Tribe owns three of the top free throws shooters in the league.
Gabe Dorsey ranks third in the league at 93.1%, which is also 19th nationally. Moss and Lowe rank 15th and 16th, respectively, in the league at 75%.
- 2020 graduate Nathan Knight, who was the National Mid-Major Player of the Year in 2020, signed an NBA 2-way deal with the Boston Celtics prior to the start of the season. He has played 108 games over his three-year NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks, helping both organizations to the playoffs. Knight is the third W&M player, joining Marcus Thornton (Cleveland Cavaliers 10-day contract in 2018) and Daniel Dixon (Boston Celtics preseason Exhibit 10 deal in 2017) to sign an NBA deal since 2017.
- A trio of former W&M players are currently on coaching staffs in the NBA and NBA G-League. Jim Moran '01 is the head coach of the Rip City Remix, which is the G-League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers. Sean Sheldon '16 is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz. Daniel Dixon '17 is an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Blue, the NBA G-League program of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
