- W&M and ODU meet for the 51st-straight season dating back to 1974. The Monarchs lead the all-time series at 71-23, but the Tribe has won seven of the last 12 meetings.
- W&M has been hindered by injuries throughout the 2023-24. Two returning starters from the 2022-23 season –
Noah Collier and
Matteus Case – have missed six games apiece so far, while graduate guard
Sean Houpt, who started the Tribe's first six games, has missed the last three due to injury. In each of the last two games, the Tribe has suffered significant in-game injuries with
Chase Lowe going down in the opening minutes at Norfolk State, and
Gabe Dorsey suffering an injury midway through the first half at Richmond. W&M finished the game at UR with just five healthy scholarship players. Combined between Collier, Case and Houpt, the Tribe is without 31.7 points and 11 rebounds per game.
- Sophomore
Charlie Williams enjoyed a career night at Richmond, scoring a team-high 21 points. He was 7-of-14 from the floor, including an impressive 5-of-9 from 3-point range. It marked his third double-digit scoring game of the season and second in the last three games. Over the last three games, he is averaging 12.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and three assists per game, shooting 62.5% (15-of-24) from the field and 50% (6-of-12) from 3.

Caleb Dorsey and sophomore
Chase Lowe each recorded double-doubles in the Tribe's setback at Richmond on Saturday. It marked the first time in the last two years that two Tribe players tallied double-doubles in the same game. Dorsey posted career-highs of 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Lowe had a nice stat line of 16 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Dorsey currently ranks 13th in the CAA in rebounding at 5.8 per contest.
- Junior
Gabe Dorsey continues to be one of the top shooters in the country. After ranking fourth in the country in 3-point % last season, he leads the nation in total 3-pointers (35), as of Dec. 4, and ranks third in 3-pointers per game (3.9). Dorsey is shooting 45.5% (35-of-77) from distance this season, which leads the CAA and is 27th nationally. He is second in the CAA and 42nd nationally in true shooting % (69.3) as well.
- Lowe has made a significant impact in his second season, averaging 12.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and a steal per game. He is one of two players in the CAA to rank in the top 25 in all four categories. Lowe is 16th in the league in scoring, 15th in rebounding, 11th in assists, and 20th in steals. He tallied a career-high 22 in the win over UMBC. Lowe also ranks second in the CAA in player efficiency rating (29.3).
- The Tribe has used the free throw line to its advantage this season. W&M ranks fourth in the CAA in free throws made per game (15.9) and free throw % (73.3). The Tribe owns four of the top free throws shooters in the league.
Sean Houpt ranks second in the CAA at 93.8%, while
Gabe Dorsey is fourth (92.3),
Trey Moss (79.3) is 13th and Lowe ranks 14th (78.7).
- The Tribe owns a balanced attack as five players are scoring in double figures. The only time in program history that five Tribe players averaged double-digits was in 2017-18. Junior
Gabe Dorsey leads the team at 15.2 points per game, which ranks 10th in the CAA. Sophomore
Trey Moss is averaging 13.2 per contest followed by
Noah Collier (13.0),
Chase Lowe (12.6), and
Sean Houpt (10.7).
- In its game at George Washington on Nov. 11, the Tribe knocked down 18 3-pointers, which ranks as the third most in program history. It is the most for a CAA program against a DI opponent since 2020 and the second most for a team nationally against a D1 opponent this season, as of Dec. 4. The Tribe ranks 18th in 3-pointers attempted (28.3) and 46th in 3-pointers made per game (9.3).
- The Tribe has been strong on the glass this season, outrebounding seven of its nine opponents. W&M ranks sixth in the CAA in rebounding margin (+2.4). The Tribe averages nearly 10 offensive rebounds and 11.1 second chance points per contest.
- 2020 graduate Nathan Knight, who was the National Mid-Major Player of the Year in 2020, signed an NBA 2-way deal with the Boston Celtics prior to the start of the season. He has played 108 games over his three-year NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks, helping both organizations to the playoffs. Knight is the third W&M player, joining Marcus Thornton (Cleveland Cavaliers 10-day contract in 2018) and Daniel Dixon (Boston Celtics preseason Exhibit 10 deal in 2017) to sign an NBA deal since 2017.
- A trio of former W&M players are currently on coaching staffs in the NBA and NBA G-League. Jim Moran '01 is the head coach of the Rip City Remix, which is the G-League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers. Sean Sheldon '16 is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz. Daniel Dixon '17 is an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Blue, the NBA G-League program of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
