- The Tribe and Navy meet for the third-straight year. They are former CAA rivals as the Midshipmen, like the Tribe, were among the founding members of the league before departing in 1991.
- Navy is the second Patriot League team that the Tribe has play this season. Earlier in the year, W&M knocked off American, 75-56, in Williamsburg. It marks the third straight season in which it has played multiple Patriot League teams. The Tribe played two in 2021-22 and last year hosted Navy and Army, while traveling to American.
- The Tribe connected on double-digit 3 pointers in three of the last four games, including 15 in the win at Old Dominion on Dec. 6. The Tribe ranks 21st nationally in 3-pointers made per game (9.8) and 23rd in 3-pointers attempted (28.0). On Nov. 11, W&M knocked down 18 3-pointers, which ranks as the third most in program history, at George Washington. It was the most for a CAA program against a DI opponent since 2020 and the fifth most for a team nationally against a D1 opponent this season, as of Dec. 27.
- Sophomore
Charlie Williams has been on a tear of late, scoring in double figures in four of the last six games, including back-to-back 20-point efforts. Following a team-high 21 points at Richmond on Dec. 2, he bettered his career mark with 23 in the win over ODU. He knocked down five 3-pointers in both contests. Over the last six contests, Williams is averaging 13.3 points and shooting 54.5% (30-of-55) from the field.
- In three of the last four games, junior
Caleb Dorsey bettered his career-high in scoring and posted two double-doubles. After scoring all 17 of his points in the second half to help W&M to a win over ODU, Dorsey tallied a career-high 20 to go with 13 rebounds in the win over VUL on Dec. 10. He notched his first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds at Richmond. Over the last four games, he is averaging 14.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest, while shooting 48% (12-of-25) beyond the 3-point arc. On the year, he leads the team and ranks 11th in the CAA in rebounding (6.3).
- Sophomore
Trey Moss has demonstrated his ability to score during his first season with the Tribe. In three of the last eight games, he has scored a career-high 20 points, including W&M's win over Old Dominion on Dec. 6. Moss ranks 11th in the CAA at 14.3 points per game. He previously scored 20 points on the road at Air Force and Norfolk State. Moss just missed a triple-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists vs. VUL on Dec. 10.
- W&M, which has been hindered by injuries throughout the 2023-24, received a boost by the return of junior
Matteus Case at Pepperdine. After missing eight games, Case returned to score a career-high 15 points at Pepperdine. Over its last three games, the Tribe played with just eight healthy players (six scholarship), including wins over Old Dominion and VUL. Among those missing for W&M have been three starters this season -
Noah Collier (9 games),
Sean Houpt (6), and
Jack Karasinski (3).
- Junior
Gabe Dorsey continues to be one of the top shooters in the country. After ranking fourth in the country in 3-point % last season, he ranks seventh nationally in 3-pointers per game (3.7) and ninth in total 3's made (44), as of Dec. 27. Dorsey is shooting 41.5% from distance this season, which ranks third in the CAA and 49th nationally.
- Sophomore
Chase Lowe has made a significant impact in his second season, averaging 11.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. He is one of five players in the CAA to rank in the top 25 in all three categories. Lowe is 25th in the league in scoring and 16th in rebounding, and 14th in assists. He tallied a career-high 22 in the win over UMBC on Nov. 25.
- The Tribe has used the free throw line to its advantage this season. W&M ranks second in the CAA in free throws made per game (16.4) and fifth in free throw % (73.8). The Tribe is 53rd nationally in free throws made and 71st in free throw%. W&M owns three of the top free throw shooters in the league.
Gabe Dorsey leads the league at 94.1%, which is also 12th nationally. Moss (75%) and Lowe (73.1%) rank 16th and 17th, respectively.
- 2020 graduate Nathan Knight, who was the National Mid-Major Player of the Year in 2020, signed an NBA 2-way deal with the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics prior to the start of the season and is currently with the Motor City Cruise in the NBA G-League. He has played 108 games over his three-year NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks. Knight is the third W&M player, joining Marcus Thornton (Cleveland Cavaliers 10-day contract in 2018) and Daniel Dixon (Boston Celtics preseason Exhibit 10 deal in 2017) to sign an NBA deal since 2017.
- A trio of former W&M players are currently on coaching staffs in the NBA and NBA G-League. Jim Moran '01 is the head coach of the Rip City Remix, which is the G-League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers. Sean Sheldon '16 is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz. Daniel Dixon '17 is an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Blue, the NBA G-League program of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
