- W&M opens the season at home for the second-straight season. It marks just the fourth time in the last 17 years that W&M has opened the season at home. The Tribe is 61-55 (.526) all-time in season openers and 47-19 (.712) when those openers come at home. W&M is 25-7 (.781) in season openers inside Kaplan Arena.
- The Green and Gold is 16-4 in it last 20 home openers. The Tribe is 82-34 (.707) all-time in home openers and 39-14 (.736) in home openers inside Kaplan Arena.
- Regent will be the first of two National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) teams W&M will play this season. The Tribe also hosts Virginia-Lynchburg on Dec. 10. The Royals basketball program started in 2018-19 and head coach Richard Pullen has been with the program since its inception, including the last two as the head man.
- Monday's match-up with Regent marks the 16th year in the last 17 that the Tribe has faced a non-Division I opponent. Over that stretch, W&M has won those games by an average margin of 40.3 points. The Tribe has scored at a 93.7 points per game clip in those contests, including nearly 100 points since 2014-15 (99.4 ppg).
- W&M's 7.5-game improvement in 2022-23 ranked second in the CAA and among the top 30 in the country. The Green and Gold won 13 games last season, including seven in CAA play. The Tribe advanced to the quarterfinals of the CAA Tournament behind a 73-51 win over Elon in March.
- After having just four returning players and 10 newcomers last season, W&M has nine returning letterwinners in 2023-24, including six players that have earned starts in their careers. The Tribe welcomes back two starters in juniors

Jack Karasinski started nine and five games, respectively, down the stretch.
- The Tribe welcomes five newcomers to the roster this season, including a trio of transfers. W&M adds a power five transfer in forward
Caleb Dorsey from Penn State, a group of five transfer in point guard
Trey Moss from South Florida, and a graduate transfer in guard
Sean Houpt from Florida Tech. The Tribe's two freshmen are guard
Jayden Lemond and forward
Tai Hamilton.
- If the name Dorsey looks familiar, it is because returning starter Gabe and newcomer Caleb are brothers. The pair teamed up to win a state championship at The Hill School in 2018. The duo reunites in Williamsburg this season. The Dorsey family are no strangers to the area or the state of Virginia basketball scene. Their mother, Myra, graduate from Hampton University, while their father, Stephen, played basketball at both VMI and Towson.
- Junior
Gabe Dorsey was one of eight players named to the honorable mention Preseason All-CAA team. In total, he was among 18 recognized by the league during the preseason. One of the top shooters in the country, Dorsey started 25 games last season and finished the year ranked 25th in the CAA at 10.9 points per game.

Gabe Dorsey ranked among the national leaders in 3-point shooting a season ago. He led the CAA in both 3-point % at 44.4% and 3's made per game at 3.04. Those numbers ranked fourth and 18th nationally, respectively.
- Houpt joins the Tribe with a reputation as an elite shooter over his three years at Florida Tech. He scored over 1,000 points and averaged 17 per game for the Panthers in his career. Houpt was a D2CCA All-South Region Second Team pick and an All-SSC Second Team selection after averaging 21 points per game last season. He connected on 176 3-pointers over his career and last season shot 35.7% from long range, while hitting 91 triples.
- Collier was a force on the block for W&M last season before missing the final seven games due to injury. He led the team and ranked fourth in the CAA in rebounding at 8.2 per game. Collier also led the Tribe with seven double-doubles, which ranked third in the CAA, including a 22-point, 16-rebound performance vs. N.C. A&T.
- Last season, the Tribe excelled beyond the 3-point arc. W&M ranked second in the CAA and 48th nationally in 3-point % a season ago. It's 36.7 3FG% was the 10th best in school history. The Tribe connected on 256 3-pointers in 2022-23, which was the seventh-best total in program history. Over the last 12 games, W&M connected on double-digit 3-pointers on five occasions, including a DI season-high 14 in the CAA Quarterfinal win over Elon.
- 2020 graduate Nathan Knight, who was the National Mid-Major Player of the Year in 2020, signed an NBA 2-way deal with the Boston Celtics prior to the start of the season. He has played 108 games over his three-year NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks, helping both organizations to the playoffs. Knight is the third W&M player, joining Marcus Thornton (Cleveland Cavaliers 10-day contract in 2018) and Daniel Dixon (Boston Celtics preseason Exhibit 10 deal in 2017) to sign an NBA deal since 2017.
- A trio of former W&M players are currently on coaching staffs in the NBA and NBA G-League. Jim Moran '01 is the head coach of the Rip City Remix, which is the G-League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers. Sean Sheldon '16 is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz. Daniel Dixon '17 is an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Blue, the NBA G-League program of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
