Tribe News and Notes
- With its 3-2 victory over Monmouth on Oct. 20, the Tribe clinched a spot in the CAA Tournament. It marked the seventh time in the last eight years that W&M qualified for the CAA Tournament. Entering the final weekend of the year, the Tribe could win the regular season CAA title going. W&M has wrapped up league play at 4-2 and would earn the top seed with a Hofstra win over Monmouth coupled with either Northeastern beating Drexel or Delaware topping Towson. All three league games are Friday. The Green and Gold could be seeded No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3 in the league championship next week.
- The Tribe leads the all-time series with Richmond at 50-31-11. The Spiders have won nine of the last 10 meetings, including each of the last two seasons. In 2022, UR topped W&M, 3-1, in Williamsburg. The Tribe holds a 20-16-5 mark at Richmond. UR is the third A-10 team W&M has faced in the last three weeks. The Green and Gold topped VCU, 1-0, and dropped a 3-2 decision to La Salle last week.
- Graduate student
Lauren Curran scored three goals last weekend on the way to earning CAA Player of the Week honors. It marked the third time a Tribe player received the honor this season as Curran joined two-time winner
Pyper Friedman in earning the distinction. Curran, who also received the weekly award last season, scored two goals, including the winner, in the 3-2 victory over Monmouth.
- Curran currently leads the Tribe and ranks among the CAA leaders in nearly every offensive category. She is second in the league in shots on goal (37), third in shots (57), fifth in game-winning goals (2), eighth in goals (7) and 10th in points (17). In league games only, Curran is in the top three in each of those categories.
- With her offensive production last weekend, Curran continued to move up the Tribe's career lists. She moved into the top 20 in career points, coming in at No. 17 with 58. The Media, Pa., native took sole possession of 15th on the Tribe's career goal scoring list with 27. Friday's game-winner was the seventh of her career, which ranks eighth in W&M history. Curran's goals per game mark of 0.51 is 12th in school history, while her 1.09 points per game is 11th.
- Over the last 10 games, graduate student
Audrey Domovich has 15 points on six goals and three assists. She ranks among the CAA leads in both points (12th) and goals (10th). She also owns two game-winning goals, including the OT winner at VCU, during that stretch and produced two games with two goals in victories over Northeastern and Georgetown. In league play, Domovich is fifth in the league in assists (2) and sixth in goals (3) and seventh in points (8).
- Graduate student
Lonica McKinney and senior
Maddie McGaughey lead the Tribe and rank 14th in the CAA with four assists on the year. McKinney assisted on the game-winner against her former team VCU on Oct. 15. McGaughey is third in the CAA in assists with three in league games.
- Friedman was named the CAA Player of the Week for the second time on Sept. 18 behind two goals, including the game-winner, at Towson. She also earned player of the week honors after scoring both Tribe goals in a 2-1 upset of then-No. 12 Wake Forest on Sept. 1. They were first two-goal games of Friedman's career.
- The Tribe's 2-1 win over then-No. 12-ranked Wake Forest was the Tribe's 12th under head coach
Tess Ellis against Top-20 opponents, including the fourth over the ACC. Last season, W&M topped three top-20 opponents, including No. 6-ranked Liberty. The last time W&M won two matches against ACC competition in the same season was 2001.
