WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's cross country returns to action at the Virginia XC23 Pre-Nationals on Saturday at the Panorama Farms.
Pre-Nationals will include a pair of races with the Tribe running the in the Orange Race at 8:45 a.m. The meet will be an opportunity for teams from around the country to preview the course that will host the NCAA Championships, Nov. 18, for the first time since 1987.
The XC23 Pre-Nationals will be streamed on ACCNX which is available through the ESPN app and at WatchESPN.com for customers who have the ACC Network as part of their TV subscription.
Tickets to the XC23 Pre-Nationals are on sale now for $20 each and must be purchased online in advance as they will not be available onsite. Tickets will include entry to the event, parking at Fashion Square Mall, and round-trip shuttles to and from Panorama Farms. There is no onsite parking for spectators at this event and Panorama Farms will be closed to all vehicles not displaying an official parking pass. Shuttles will run from 6:45 a.m.-9:30 a.m. and then return from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Children under the age of two do not need a ticket. Tickets can be purchased using the "Buy Tickets" link at

Joining the Tribe in the Orange Race will be 16 teams, including Arizona, Charlotte (No. 11 Southeast), Cornell, High Point (No. 15 Southeast), Kansas (No. 15 Midwest), Kansas State (No. 12 Midwest), Kent State, Louisville (No. 12 Southeast), Miami, Miami (Ohio), Purdue (No. 11 Great Lakes), Richmond (No. 14 Southeast), South Carolina, UMass Lowell (No. 15 Northeast), Washington State (No. 11 West), Weber State (No. 13 Mountain), Wyoming (No. 11 Mountain), and Yale (No. 12 Northeast). Tribe News and Notes
- The Tribe will compete at the Virginia XC23 event for the third-straight season. Saturday marks the first time it has competed at the Pre-National race since 2018 at Wisconsin.
- W&M earned a regional rankings for the first time this season on Sept. 18, coming in at No. 14 in the Southeast Region. The Tribe remained in the 14th spot in the latest ranking on Oct. 2.
- Most recently at the Paul Short Run, the Tribe placed its first five among the top 100 and out-raced 11 regionally-ranked teams in placing 14th in the 43-team field. W&M's top five runners had a spread of just 9.2 seconds. Freshman
Hayes Trapp led the way in his first action for the Tribe, placing 72nd in the 392-runner field. Juniors
Zack Ericksen and
Nate Jennings finished just four tenths apart in 77th and 78th place, respectively.
- At the Adidas XC Challenge, the Tribe finished as the runner-up in a 17-team field, a spot in front of Southeast Region No. 5 Duke. W&M finished ahead of four CAA foes at the event (Elon in seventh, Charleston in eighth, Campbell in 11th, and N.C. A&T in 14th). The Tribe placed nine runner among the top 35 in a 153-runner field
- Senior
Sam Pritchard was named the CAA Runner of the Week on Sept. 19. He led the Tribe, finishing eighth in a time of 18:20.1 at the Adidas XC Challenge.
