- W&M and Hampton meet for the 26th time in the last 28 seasons with the Tribe holding a 16-9 advantage in the series. The Pirates, who joined the CAA this summer, will be the first CAA opponent the Tribe meets for a second time in 2022-23. It marks the second meeting in a 22-day stretch after W&M won 81-65 on Jan. 11. The Tribe has won five of the last six meetings, including the last two contests in Hampton.
- Last week, the Tribe was on fire from 3-point range, averaging 12.5 triples and shooting 67.6% in two games. W&M set a program record shooting 81.3% (13-of-16) from 3-point range in the win over Stony Brook on Jan. 26. The 3-point % was also the best by a Division I team this season with a minimum of 10 made 3's and the second best nationally over the last six years. Graduate guard
Anders Nelson is 9-of-10 from 3 over the last two games, while sophomore
Gabe Dorsey is 8-of-12.
- W&M leads the CAA and 37th nationally in 3-point % (37.6). The Tribe is averaging 7.5 triples made per game. The Tribe's numbers this season are a substantial improvement from the last two seasons, when W&M shot just 30.1% from distance and made 6.4 per game.
- Graduate guard
Anders Nelson averaged 24.5 points per game last week, shooting a nearly perfect 15-of-16 from the field and 9-of-10 from 3-point range. He scored a season-high 27 points vs. Stony Brook and more impressively was 8-of-8 from the field and 4-of-4 from 3. It marks the most made field goals without a miss for a Tribe player since 2004. He made his first six shots at Towson and finished with 22 points on Jan. 28. Nelson leads the Tribe and ranks 21st in the CAA at 11.9 points per game.
- In short order, sophomore
Gabe Dorsey has established himself as one of the top shooters in the country. He ranks ninth nationally in 3-point % (45.5), 17th in effective FG% (65.5) and 17th in 3's per game (3.1). He leads the CAA in both 3-point % and triples per game. He has been even better in league play, hitting a CAA-best 3.6 3-pointers per game and shooting a league-leading 49.3%. Over the last four games, he is averaging 15.8 points per game and making 4.8 3-pointers per contest.

- Collier's 16 rebounds vs. N.C. A&T are the 11th most for a Tribe player since 1973 and the most since Nathan Knight pulled down 17 vs. UNCW in 2020. In CAA play, Collier leads the league at 8.9 rebounds per game. He has pulled down 10 or more rebounds in six of the Tribe's last 10 games and currently ranks 46th nationally in rebounds per game.
- Graduate student
Chris Mullins dished out a season-high nine assists compared to zero turnovers vs. North Carolina A&T. It marks just one of 36 performances nationally this season in which a player had nine or more assists and zero turnovers. It is the only such effort for a CAA player in 2022-23. In league play, Mullins is averaging 3.2 assists per game, which ranks 11th in the CAA.
- Freshman
Charlie Williams was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Jan. 16. Williams made a huge impact off the bench in the win at UNCW, scoring a career-high 15 points to go with four rebounds. He scored 12 first-half points with the Tribe's starting front court of Collier and Wight limited to 11 total minutes due to foul trouble. Williams was 11-of-12 at the free throw line vs. UNCW.
- Nelson has been a catalyst for W&M's offense. He ranks second in the CAA in assists (4.5) and third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.7). His assists per game number is 81st nationally. Nelson is 19th in the country in assist rate (34.9), according to KenPom.com. Assist rate divides the number of assists by the field goals made by the player's teammates while he is on the court.
- W&M turned the ball over just nine time against a UNCW team that leads the CAA in turnover margin. On the year, the Tribe is averaging just 12.3 turnovers per game in 2022-23, which is a significant improvement from a season ago. The Green and Gold averaged 16.2 turnovers per game in 2021-22, the sixth-worst mark in the country. After not having a single game of 10 or fewer turnovers last season, W&M has nine such games this season.
