- The Tribe and Stony Brook meet for the first time after the Seawolves joined the Colonial Athletic Association over the summer. SBU was one of four teams to join the league this season along with Hampton, Monmouth and N.C. A&T.

Gabe Dorsey has increased his scoring production in CAA play, averaging 13 points per game in league action, which ranks 17th in the CAA. Over the last two games, the 6-6 wing is averaging 19.5 points per game. He set his career-high on two occasions in league action with 21 points against both Hofstra (Jan. 7) and N.C. A&T (Jan. 21).

Noah Collier recorded his seventh double-double of the season and third in the last five game with career-highs of 22 points and 16 rebounds vs. N.C. A&T. He is tied for the CAA lead with seven double-doubles on the year and ranks 40th nationally in the category.
- In CAA play, the Tribe has four players scoring in double figures. Dorsey leads the way at 13 points per game followed by graduate student
Anders Nelson (10.3), Collier (10.3) and junior
Ben Wight (10.1). It marks the first time since 2018-19 that the Tribe has had four players averaging in double figures in CAA play.
- Collier's 16 rebounds vs. N.C. A&T are the 11th most for a Tribe player since 1973 and the most since Nathan Knight pulled down 17 vs. UNCW in 2020. In CAA play, Collier leads the league at 9.1 rebounds per game. He has pulled down 10 or more rebounds in six of the Tribe's last nine games and currently ranks 50th nationally in rebounds per game.

Chris Mullins dished out a season-high nine assists compared to zero turnovers vs. North Carolina A&T. It marks just one of 36 performances nationally this season in which a player had nine or more assists and zero turnovers. It is the only such effort for a CAA player in 2022-23. In league play, Mullins is averaging 3.5 assists per game, which ranks eighth in the CAA.
- In short order, Dorsey has established himself as one of the top shooters in the country. He ranks 13th nationally in 3-point % (43.8), 23rd in 3's per game (3.0) and 32nd in effective FG% (63.8). He leads the CAA in 3-point % and is second in triples per game. He has been even better in league play, hitting a CAA-best 3.5 3-pointers per game and shooting 45.9% from deep.
- Freshman
Charlie Williams was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Jan. 16. Williams made a huge impact off the bench in the win at UNCW, scoring a career-high 15 points to go with four rebounds. He scored 12 first-half points with the Tribe's starting front court of Collier and Wight limited to 11 total minutes due to foul trouble. Williams was 11-of-12 at the free throw line vs. UNCW.
- Nelson has been a catalyst for W&M's offense. He leads the CAA in assists (4.6) and ranks third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8). His assists per game number is 67th nationally. Nelson is 14th in the country in assist rate (35.2), according to KenPom.com. Assist rate divides the number of assists by the field goals made by the player's teammates while he is on the court.
- W&M turned the ball over just nine time against a UNCW team that leads the CAA in turnover margin. On the year, the Tribe is averaging just 12.4 turnovers per game in 2022-23, which is a significant improvement from a season ago. The Green and Gold averaged 16.2 turnovers per game in 2021-22, the sixth-worst mark in the country. After not having a single game of 10 or fewer turnovers last season, W&M has eight such games this season.
- Rebounding, especially on the offensive end, has been a focus for the Tribe. Overall, the Tribe ranks third in offensive rebounding (11.3), fifth in the CAA in rebounding (35.3), sixth in the CAA in rebounding margin (+1.9). The Tribe's 11.3 offensive rebounds per game are its most since 2006 (12.1). W&M ranks 90th nationally in offensive rebounding.
- Four former Tribe standouts are in the NBA as either a player or a coach. 2020 graduate Nathan Knight, who was the National Mid-Major Player of the Year in 2020, signed a two-year deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the offseason. He spent last season with the Timberwolves after playing his rookie season with the Atlanta Hawks. Jim Moran '01 is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Detroit Pistons, while Sean Sheldon '16 joined the Utah Jazz as an assistant coach this offseason. Daniel Dixon '17 is an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Blue, the NBA G-League program of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Another nine former Tribe players are currently playing professionally in Europe.
