- History, made! Sunday's home victory over Charleston marked the first CAA win under head coach Erin Dickerson Davis and, for good measure, set a few scoring records, as well. The Tribe's 14 3-pointers were the most in a single game at Kaplan Arena and the second-most in program history. As a group, the Tribe shot 50% from behind the arc (and a blistering 54.4% from the floor), led by graduate student Riley Casey who drained seven shots from distance. The performance matched a career-high for Casey and was also a Kaplan Arena record.
- One of the most proficient scorers in the country, Casey continues to add her name to William & Mary women's basketball lore. Her 31 points against Charleston (1/8/23) marked the first time in program history a player has scored 30-plus three times in a single season. Earlier this year, she became the second W&M player to record back-to-back 30-plus scoring performances. She did so against George Mason and Army, shooting 53.8% from the field over the two games. Against the Black Knights, she also connected on 6-of-9 shots from behind the arc, matching the third-best single-game 3-point shooting performance by a W&M player.
- More than just racking up single-game and program records, Casey has been a picture of statistical consistency for much of the year, regularly ranking among the top national and CAA performers. Currently, she sits 24th in the country in 3-point shooting percentage (.449) and leads the conference in the same category. Additionally, her 17.4 points per game and 40 total 3-pointers are second in the CAA.
- Towson also captured its first CAA win of the young conference schedule last weekend, defeating Hampton 86-47 at home. As she's done all season, Kylie Kornegay-Lucas led the way with a game-high 20 points. The redshirt junior, last year's CAA Sixth Player of the Year, sits fourth in the conference in scoring (16.7 points/game) and eighth in field goal percentage (.415).
- Downtown, meet down under. Making her return to the starting lineup for the first time since Dec. 21, junior forward and Australia native Rebekah Frisby-Smith drained a personal best three 3-pointers en route to a career-high 11 points against Charleston. It's been a breakout season for Frisby-Smith, who has set new single-game marks in 10 categories.
- Big players make big plays and... play big-time minutes. In the CAA home opener, five W&M players saw over 20 minutes of action, while a total of eight logged at least 12 minutes. This season, five Tribe athletes have posted career highs in minutes, including Frisby-Smith, who has bested her personal mark on four occasions. Plus, the backcourt duo of Casey and Sydney Wagner ranks in the CAA top-10 in minutes played per game (Casey: 33.9, Wagner: 33.6).
- Wagner and Casey are making good use of all those minutes. The preseason All-CAA First-Team tandem sits top-10 in the CAA in points (Casey: 17.4, Wagner: 14.4) and 3-point field goals per game (Casey: 2.9, Wagner: 2.3). They are also the only two W&M players to start all 14 games this season.
- Welcome to the block party! Junior Caitlin Wingertzahn ranks among the top-10 CAA players in blocks per game this year, recording 1.1 whenever she steps onto the court. It's been a strong winter for the Rumson, N.J. native, who currently leads the Tribe in shooting percentage (.500) and has set career highs in 12 different categories this year.
- The win at Longwood didn't just snap a then two-game-skid for the Tribe—it also marked multiple career performances for multiple players. Freshman Kayla Rolph posted a personal-best 10 points in 32 minutes off the bench. Frisby-Smith's 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass, were the most she's ever hauled in, while Casey matched a career-high six assists. Wingertzahn also pulled in eight rebounds to set a new individual mark.
- Wagner has recorded several big-time career scoring marks this year. At Longwood (12/18/22), she posted her 20th career 20-point game, the third time she scored 20 or more this season. At Stony Brook, she recorded her 55th career double-digit scoring performance. Wagner has also dished out two or more assists 11 times and notched five multi-steal games.
- W&M leads the conference in free throw percentage (.761), is third in 3-pointers made (7.1) per game, and fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (.325)
- The Tribe was picked seventh in the CAA preseason standings by vote of the league coaches. Drexel was the preseason pick to win the league with 10 first-place votes.
