BETHLEHEM, Pa. – William & Mary men's cross country raced against a loaded field that featured five teams either in the national rankings or receiving votes and 27 regionally-ranked programs at the 48th annual Paul Short Race on Friday morning. The Green and Gold topped six regionally-ranked teams on the way to finishing 27th in the Gold 8K.
The Tribe, which entered the week ranked No. 15 in the Southeast Region, topped a trio of Mid-Atlantic ranked teams in No. 9 St. Joseph's (33rd), No. 10 Lehigh (41st) and No. 13 La Salle (30th); two Northeast Region ranked teams in No. 9 Columbia (31st) and No. 15 Binghamton (44th); and Great Lakes region No. 14 Dayton (34th).
The sophomore trio of
Jacob Jones,
Sam Pritchard and
Nate Jennings finished among the top 130 in the field of 428. Jones led the way at No. 120, crossing the line in 24:13.4. Pritchard followed in 128th at 24:17.4, while Jennings was two spots back at 24:18.6.
Graduate student
T.J. Corliss improved 50 spots over the final 3k to finish 292nd in a time of 24:55.5.
Freshman
Luke Ellwood was 249th, up 24 sports over the final 3K, in a time of 24:57.6.
No. 13-ranked North Carolina won the event with 64 total points followed by No. 21 Villanova (100) and Utah State (105), who is receiving votes. No. 17 Georgetown was fourth at 138 points.

The Tribe will once again compete at the Virginia XC23 Invitational in Earlysville, Va., at Panorama Farms. The event is slated for Saturday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m.
