Tribe Volleyball Earns AVCA Academic Honor

LEXINGTON, KY.- The William & Mary volleyball program was recognized for its academic excellence on Monday morning. The Tribe earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, the organization announced.

It marks the seventh time the Tribe earned the distinction, including the fifth time in the last six years. W&M also received the recognition in 1995, 2009, 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2021.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

"Academic achievement does not happen by accident," said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer. "I'm so proud of the hundreds of coaching staffs that make excellence in the classroom a priority."
