Tribe Announces Hunter Rock As Assistant Volleyball Coach

WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- William & Mary volleyball has hired Hunter Rock as an assistant coach as announced by head coach Tim Doyle Thursday afternoon. Rock played four years of collegiate volleyball and has experience coaching at a variety of levels.

A five–year player at Hiram College, Rock helped build a proud program as a part of the Terriers' inaugural season in 2017. Rock was a captain of the 2021 Hiram team that captured the AMCC title and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Rock began his coaching career in 2020 when he was an assistant with Everest Volleyball Club in Twinsburg, Ohio. Rock was a practice coach, traveling with the 16's national team. In 2021, Rock worked as an assistant coach with the Stow-Monroe high school boys program and helped the team to a regional final appearance.

Most recently, Rock was a Graduate Assistant at Augustana College working with both the men's and women's programs. In this role, Rock was responsible for scouting all opponents and creating detailed scouting reports. In addition, Rock helped with recruiting and was active in practice drills.

Rock received a Bachelor's Degree from Hiram College in 2021, majoring in Education. He is currently finishing his Master's Degree from Western Illinois University in Higher Education Leadership.

From Doyle: Hunter will be a great addition to our staff. Throughout the interview process, he proved himself thoughtful, thorough, and insightful. He has an eye for the game and our team will really appreciate his approach, which is the right balance of personal and professional. Hunter is the right person at the right time for the program – his hunger to make an impact reflects the competitive hunger our team has to put W&M back on the map.

From Rock: It is such a blessing to be able to represent such an elite institution like William & Mary. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join such a great coaching staff and for the trust that Tim and Janelle have in me to assist with the growth of the program! Go Tribe!
