DEDHAM, Mass-The William & Mary women's track & field team concluded day one of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships in fourth place with 29 points. Elon is currently in the lead with 46 points while Delaware is not far behind with 41 points.
Freshman
Emily Ervin broke the freshman school record and won her heat in the 400m prelims, clocking in at 55.35. Ervin's qualifying performance now ranks fifth in program history.
How it Happened:
- In the javelin redshirt-sophomore
Kristen Herr recorded a personal best, placing second overall with a mark of 45.19m. Her throw collected eight points for the Green & Gold and ties for seventh in program history. Redshirt-sophomore
Zoe Metzger added four points to the Tribes tally after placing fifth with a mark of 37.66m.
- In the hammer throw senior
Eva Mustafic finished in fifth with a mark of 52.93m, adding four points to the Tribe's overall score, while redshirt-sophomore
Keeley Suzenski finished close behind in sixth with a mark of 52.68, adding three points.
- Rookie
Fiona Basewitz and sophomore
Olesya Sitkowski, both finished with a mark of 3.60m in the pole vault, placing sixth and seventh respectively. The two collected a total of five points for the Tribe.
- Sophomore
Megan Heidebrecht placed third in the long jump. Adding five points to the Green & Golds overall score, her jump of 5.66m is now tied for 12th in W&M history.
- Rookie
Emily Ervin won her heat in the 200m with a personal best. Ervin's qualifying time of 24.30, ties for third in program history. Sophomore Mary Gregory finished third in her group with a qualifying time of 25.06.
- In the 1500m prelims sophomore
Kyra Holland finished fourth in her heat clocking in with a qualifying time of 4:36.33.
- In the 400m Gregory finished second in the group with a qualifying time of 55.79. Her time ties for 12th in W&M history.
- In the 100m freshman
Anna Kessler set a personal best at 12.50, finishing fourth in her group.
The CAA Championships will continue Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m.
