RICHMOND, VA.- Ben Williamson has been named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year and is joined on the all-league first team by Cole Ragone and Matt Thomas. Jack Cone and Carter Lovasz were named to the CAA second-team, while Joe Delossantos earned honorable mention. Lovasz was also named to the All-Rookie team. 
 
Williamson is the second William & Mary infielder to take home the Defensive Player of the Year award as Matt McDermott earned the honor last season. The junior split time evenly making highlight reel plays at both short and third this season, with a .975 fielding percentage on 147 chances. 
 
The Chantilly native was also named first-team all-conference for the second straight season, hitting .310 overall (10th in the CAA) and .341 in league games (sixth). Williamson scored 41 runs, knocked 53 hits including 11 doubles, and stole nine bases. 
 
Also on the left side of the Tribe infield, Ragone was dominant at the plate all season long. The senior led the team and was seventh in the league with nine homers on the season, five coming in CAA games. Ragone finished third in the league with 45 runs driven in, and seventh with a .541 slugging percentage, while leading the club with 12 doubles. 
 
William & Mary's iron man, Thomas has started every game over the last three seasons and was deserving of the all-conference nod as he led the Tribe with an even 100 total bases in the regular season. Thomas finished third in the CAA with a .326 average and 63 hits, but was particularly effective against league pitching. The outfielder led all players in CAA games with a .400 batting average and 42 hits. Thomas was also in the top-10 in  CAA play in slugging, on base, OPS, doubles, triples, and runs scored. 
 
Cone landed on the postseason honor list for the second straight season, once again as a terrific utility player. The senior pitched and played center field for the Green and Gold, earning four wins on the year and striking out 20 over 26.1 innings of league play. Cone held the CAA to a .230 batting average and clocked a 3.38 ERA. At the dish, the lefty was third on the team with 34 runs driven in to go with eight doubles and six long balls, including a walk off homer to beat UNCW and a game-winning bomb last Thursday at Elon. 
 
The Tribe's best pitcher all season was All-Rookie team selection Carter Lovasz. The right-hander went 2-1 on the season and earned a team-high five saves with a miniscule 2.61 ERA. Lovasz's 0.83 WHIP ranks third in the nation, best among all freshmen. Incredibly, Lovasz was even better in league play, with a 0.73 WHIP to go with a 1.96 ERA, holding teams to a .145 batting average. The reliever struck out 37 while walking just 12 on the season. 
 
Delossantos deserved recognition after a breakout season for the junior. The left fielder had highlight catch after highlight catch in the outfield while providing consistent damage at the plate. Delossantos finished fourth in league games, knocking in 24 men and hammering six homers off CAA pitching. The junior was also top-five in the league in slugging and OPS.
