Box Score HARRISONBURG, VA. - William & Mary fell 10-3 to James Madison Sunday afternoon. The Tribe out-hit the Dukes 11-9 but JMU scored four in the first, four in the third, and a pair of runs in the fourth, four of which were unearned.
Lucas Carmichael would knock in all three Tribe runs with a pair of hits, and also reached base twice via a hit by pitch.
Jack Cone and
Tyler Solomon each had two hits as well in the game.
James Madison jumped on the Tribe in the opening frame as Trevon Dabney led off the game with a homer. Later in the inning Carson Bell would hit a three-run homer to make it a 4-0 game.
The Green and Gold landed on the scoreboard in the second inning via a two-out rally.
Tyler Solomon stroked a double into the game in left center and
Lucas Carmichael followed with an RBI single.
Ben Williamson doubled in the third inning but was stranded. In the bottom half, James Madison scored four times on four hits to make it 8-1. The Tribe answered in the fourth, as
Jack Cone shot a one-out single into center. Solomon followed with his second double of the day, and Carmichael knocked in both runners with his second single making it 8-3.
An error and a wild pitch would plate a pair of runners in the bottom of the fourth for JMU.
Adam Fischer,
Garrett Casey, and
Mike Weidinger would combine to allow zero runs and no hits over the fifth, sixth, and seventh frames.
The Tribe would load the bases in the eighth, but be unable to score. Weidinger again was able to retire the side in order, but William & Mary went down scoreless in the ninth to close out the ballgame.
