Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C.- Despite a pair of late homers that launched a furious comeback, William & Mary could not overcome Charleston in a 4-3 defeat Saturday afternoon in South Carolina. The Tribe got homers in the seventh from
Cole Ragone, and in the ninth from
Tyler Solomon, but Charleston rallied in the bottom of the ninth to win the ballgame.

Carter Lovasz was a stud, allowing just one run on one hit over 5.1 innings and
Mark Trotta had a pair of hits in the ballgame.Â

William & Mary threatened in the first two innings, but could not plate a run. Charleston capitalized in the second with a lead off solo shot to make it 1-0. The Cougars loaded the bases but
Casey Green shut down the inning, surrendering just one.Â

In the middle of the third inning, the teams would endure a 36 minute rain delay. On the first pitch after the delay Marr would crank his second homer of the day to make it 2-0 Charleston.Â

After three scoreless innings from Lovasz, the Tribe got a lead off double off the bat of Solomon in the seventh. After a pair of outs, Ragone stepped to the dish and smashed a 1-0 homer over the wall in deep left center to tie the ball game.Â

Lovasz worked a clean eighth to keep it a tie game, and Solomon led off the first smashing a 1-0 fastball deep over the wall in right center to give the Tribe its first lead of the series. William & Mary would get a pair of runners on, but the game would remain 3-3 headed to the bottom half.Â

In the bottom half of the ninth, Charleston responded with a single, followed by a double down the left field line to give the Cougars second and third with no outs. A sac fly to deep right would tie the game for Charleston and a second sac fly to left would plate the winning runner.Â
