W&M Women's Track & Field Lead First Day of Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William & Mary women's track & field team lead the first day of the Colonial Relays, on Friday. After 13 events scored, the Green & Gold stands in first place with 49.50 points and a total of  10 top 10 performances.
 
How It Happened:

Field Events
  • Kicking it off for the field events sophomore Megan Heidebrecht recorded a personal best and placed second in the long jump with a mark of 5.84m, the second best-jump in school history since 2008. Sophomore Chelsea Mitchell finished in fourth place at 5.59m contributing five points to the overall team score. Mitchell's jump now ties for seventh in W&M history.    
  • In the high jump university sophomore, Ellie St. Martin won the event with a mark of 1.61m, while red-shirt sophomore Liliana Klemanski placed fourth with 1.56m.
  • Senior Eva Mustafic collected eight points for the Tribe after placing second in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.60m. Sophomore Keeley Suzenski placed fifth overall and collected five points.
  • In the Pole Vault Olesya Sitowski added 3.5 points to the Tribes score, placing fifth at 3.70m.
  • Sophomore Zoe Metzger finished eighth in the javelin with a mark of 36.13m, adding a point for the Tribe.
Running Events
  • Mitchell finished in sixth place in the 100-meter dash at 12.24, adding three points to the team.
  • In the 400-meter dash sophomore, Mary Gregory placed second overall at 55.69, contributing 8 points to the Tribe.
  • In the 400-meter hurdles sophomore, Makenzie Joiner recorded a personal best finishing 10th at 1:04.49.
  • Freshman Emily Ervin finished third in the 200-meter dash at 24.60, adding six points to the Green & Gold's tally.
  • In the 5000m rookie, Arianna DeBoer secured a top 10 finish in 10th place at 17.00.00 even.
  • Rounding it out for the Tribe in the 1500m, sophomore Kyra Holland finished 10th overall at 4:36.74.

The Colonial Relays continue on Saturday, with events beginning at 9:00 a.m.
