SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – William & Mary men's golf opened the spring season with a 12th place finish at the Ross Collegiate Classic on Tuesday.
 
After a difficult opening round, the Tribe fired a 4-over par 292 in the second round, the second-best score during the round. W&M closed out the tournament with a 298 on Tuesday in the third and final round.
 
Graduate student Ethan Mangum led the Tribe charge with a 3-over par 219 in 16th position. After a disappointing first round, Mangum fired back-to-back two-under par 70s to earn the top-20 finish. Mangum was one of 24 players in the tourney to recorded an eagle and added five birdies in the final round.
 
Freshman Logan Hunter finished in a share of 31st with a 225 (+9). Hunter posted a 1-over par 73 in round two and finished with a 75 on Tuesday. He le d the Tribe and ranked seventh in the field in birdies with 12 and had the second-best par 5 scoring average at the event, finishing at 7-under par.
 
Senior Matthew Feinstein garnered a share of 40th, one stroke behind Hunter, at 226 (+10).
 
The Tribe returns to action at the Forest Creek Collegiate on Saturday and Sunday at the Forest Creek Golf Club in Pinehurst, N.C.
