Women's Golf Finishes as Runner-up with Two Individual Top 10s at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William & Mary women's golf team wrapped up the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, shooting a 303 (+15) to finish the tournament in second place overall at 920 (+56). Two Tribe golfers, freshman Emma Lu and senior Sarah Houle finished in the top six individually.
 
Delaware continued their strong play from the first two rounds, posting a 303 (+15) in the third round to win the tournament at 911 (+47), finishing nine strokes ahead of the Tribe and 22 strokes over Longwood, who came in third with a 933 (+69). The individual winner Oihana Etxezarreta of Delaware posted a 73 (+1) on the third day, shooting a 215 (-1) overall.
 
Lu (Shenzhen, China) was the event's runner-up, the best finish of her collegiate career. She shot a team-best 74 on the final day to turn in the best three-round collegiate score of 220 (+4). Her tournament scores was also the 17th-best 54-hole total in W&M history.
 
Houle (Sandy Hook, Conn.) finished just out of the top 5 in sixth place shooting a 226 (+10). It marked Houle's fourth top-10 finish of the year, which ranks 14th on the Tribe's single-season list. She also has nine career top-10 finishes, which ranks ninth in program history.
 
Junior Mikah McDonnell (Webster, N.Y.) shot a 235 (+19) to finish tied for 19th place. Junior Cindy Zhou (Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada) shot her best round of the tournament at 75 (+3) to finish at 239 overall (+23) to tie for 33rd place. Senior Stefanie Guizar Diaz (Clearwater, Fla.) ended in 63rd place shooting a 252 (+36).
 
Up Next: The Tribe travels to Grasonville, Md., to compete in the Prospect Bay Intercollegiate at the Prospect Bay Golf Course on Saturday, April 2, and Sunday, April 3.
