WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's golf sits in a share of third place after the opening round of the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate on Monday afternoon. After a morning delay, the second round was suspended due to darkness.
The Tribe shot an opening-round 294 and trails leader Georgetown by seven shots. Fairleigh Dickinson sits in second at 293, while the Tribe is tied for third with fellow CAA team Towson. W&M's second group sits in 13th place after a first-round 318.
Freshman
Logan Hunter led the way for the Tribe with an even par round of 71 to sit in a share of fifth place after the first round. He led the Green and Gold with four opening-round birdies.
Graduate student
Ethan Mangum held a share of 10th after the first round at 1-over 72. Junior
Trevor Binau was one shot behind Mangum at 2-over 73. He eagled the par-5 fifth hole and add three more birdies over the course of his opening 18 holes.
Senior
Matthew Feinstein and redshirt freshman
Jake Newman rounded out the Tribe lineup with 78s in the opening round.
Sophomore
Will Rieck led the Tribe's second squad in the opening round. He posted four birdies in shooting a 3-over 74.
The second round of the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate is scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. with the third and final round to follow on the Gold Course.
