Box Score FAIRFAX, VA.- Casey Green set the tone for the Tribe pitching staff tossing 7.0 scoreless as the team would go on to allow just one run on seven hits over 11.0 innings in a 2-1 pitching duel win over George Mason in 11 innings Saturday afternoon.
David Hogarth was the hero offensively, singling in
Joe Delossantos in the 11th to give the Tribe the lead before
Matt Howat shut the door with a one, two, three 11th to ensure the win.
Green was penomenal in his longest outing in the Green and Gold tossing 7.0 scoreless frames. Green allowed just two hits and struck out three while issuing zero free passes. Green induced 11 fly outs to seven grounders in his seven throwing just 71 pitches.
After four scoreless frames, the Tribe would plate a runner in the fifth as
Matt Thomas shot a sac fly into deep right that would plate
Nate Goranson. George Mason would come back to score a runner in the ninth to tie the ballgame at one.
In the bottom of the 10th, Mason would load the bases with two outs, but
Matt Howat would enter the game and induce an inning ending grounder to extend the game. In the Tribe's half of the 11th, Delossantos would lead off being hit by a pitch and move to second on Goranson's sac bunt. Hogarth would single up the middle to plate Delossantos and give the Tribe a one run lead.
Howat would get a strikeout sandwiched by a pair of grounders to work a clean 11th earning his first win of the season.
