Baseball Continues Road Trip Tuesday at Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C.- William & Mary's five-game road trip rolls on as the Tribe heads to Davidson for a Tuesday doubleheader. The two teams will get together for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch, with the second game starting roughly 40 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Both games are available to stream on ESPN+.

The Tribe will be looking to rebound after dropping three games at Georgia Southern over the weekend, while Davidson enters the contest hot, sweeping Norfolk State last week. The game will mark only the second meeting in history between the two clubs as William & Mary won the only previous tilt 11-8 in 2004.

Fast starts and strong finishes have boosted the Tribe this season. The Green and Gold have scored in the first inning in seven of twelve games this year, and are outscoring opponents 18-10 in the first. Through the first three innings, the Tribe has outscored teams 34-20, and have bested teams by a score of 35-14 in the final three frames.

Of the Tribe's top-three pitchers in terms of innings pitched, all three have an ERA of 3.00 or lower. Carter Lovasz and Zach Tsakounis lead the Tribe with 15.0 innings tossed on the season and both have a 3.00 ERA. Lovasz has struck out 13 while only walking three, and Tsakounis is holding opponents to a .236 batting average. Casey Green has tossed 11.1 innings and allowed just two earned runs, with 10 strikeouts.

The Tribe has managed to score 88 runs on 104 hits through 12 games this season. William & Mary has six starters, Joe Delossantos, Mark Trotta, David Hogarth, Matt Thomas, Ben Williamson, and Cole Ragone all averaging at least one hit per ball game. Ragone and Max Winters are each averaging at least one run batted in per nine innings, and Thomas and Williamson have scored at least one run per game.

Sophomore lefty Adam Fischer has dominated in his last three outings, tossing 5.2 scoreless frames, striking out nine and allowing just four hits. Fischer joins Zach Tsakounis and Matt Howat as the only Tribe pitchers to appear in at least five games this season. The Alexandria native is striking out 12.9 batters per nine innings, second on the team to Mike Weidinger's 13.5 K/9 mark.
