RICHMOND, VA.- Rojo Prarie has been named the CAA Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league Monday afternoon. The award comes after Prarie's 11-out save to secure a season-opening sweep over Rhode Island Saturday night.
Prairie entered in the top of the sixth inning with two men on base and the Tribe clinging to a 6-5 lead. The senior induced a double play ball to get out of the jam and then struck out four batters in the final three innings, retiring the final seven men he faced.
The save was the first of the career for Rojo, and ensured an opening-weekend sweep for the first time since the 2019 season. Prairie and the rest of the Tribe will visit Richmond Tuesday afternoon for a matchup with the Spiders.
