The Tribe Hosts Hofstra for Annual Play 4 Kay Game

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William and Mary women's basketball team welcomes Hofstra University Sunday, Feb. 20, for its annual "Play 4 Kay" game. Tip-off from Kaplan Arena is slated for 2 p.m. The contest will be streamed on FloHoops, for fans to watch.

Sunday afternoon the Tribe will celebrate its annual Play 4 Kay game in support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The fund's mission is to extend and improve the lives of those who are battling cancer, on our way to finding a cure, by raising money for research and providing life-saving access to healthcare for underserved women. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support.

Until the end of February, teams are securing pledges, earning donations for every free throw made during games played in February. To make a pledge in support of WM in the Free Throw Challenge learn more.

W&M News and Notes 
- In the last match-up between W&M and Hofstra, The Tribe won 56-48 at David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Riley Casey led the team with (20), Sydney Wagner (12), and Bre Bellamy (10). While graduate student Kate Sramac stacked the stat sheet with five points, six rebounds, and seven assist.

- The Green and Gold had its best performance of this season to date Friday night in its win 83-65 over Northeastern. The Tribe enters Sunday's game with three consecutive wins secured. On Friday W&M shot a season-best 56.6% FG and hit 9-of-19 from the 3FG. W&M was 14-of-15 from the charity stripe and had 20 assists.

- Casey was on fire Friday night as she led the Tribe with 27 points while shooting 4-of-6 from the three and 7-of-7 from the free-throw line. The Brentwood, Tenn. native has led the Tribe in scoring, averaging 15.7 points per game, while she is also among the league leaders ranking number one in 3-point % (41.6), first in 3-point FG made (3.0), and eighth in scoring.

- Wagner tailed a career-high last night with 23 points, three assists, and three steals. Wagner has been sensational this season averaging 14 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, with 3.2 assists per game, and is shooting 91.3% from the charity stripe. Wagner is amongst the league leaders and ranks fifth in 3FG made. The Phoenixville, Pa., native reached 1,000 career points in the Tribe's win against UNCW on Feb., 13.

- Kayla Beckwith has proven to be pivotal in conference play shooting 77.4% FG and averaging 18 minutes a game. In the Tribe's most recent match-up, Beckwith topped a career-high for the third consecutive game with 15 points, shooting 6-of-7 from the field, eight rebounds, and two assists. 

- Bre Bellamy has been one of Swanson's most consistent and go-to players this season. Bellamy leads the Green and Gold in blocks per game and is second in rebounds averaging 5.5 per game.

- The Tribe has been one of the most ferocious three-point defenses in Division I this season. William & Mary leads the CAA in three-pointers per game (6.9) and is first in team three-point field goal percentage 32%. On eight separate occasions this season, the Tribe has held the opposition to below 21% from the three-point line.
 
- The Tribe has held three opponents to 50 points or fewer this season, winning each of those three games. Under head coach Ed Swanson, the Tribe has held opponents to under 50 points in 29 games and are 28-1 in those contests.
 
- W&M head coach Ed Swanson enjoyed a noteworthy 2019-20 season individually. He was named the CAA Co-Coach of the Year following the Tribe's historic season. Swanson won his 500th career game on Nov.  26, became just the third coach in W&M history to win 100 games with the Tribe on Jan. 12, and was inducted into the Northeast Conference Hall of Fame in January.
