GENEVA, N.Y. – William & Mary senior forward
Lauren Curran was named to the All-South Region Second Team by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, the organization announced on Tuesday. The NFHCA teams are nominated and voted on by Division I coaches from around the nation.
Sixteen student-athletes make up the first and second teams in five regions: Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Northeast, South, and West. This is the tenth time in the last 11 years that W&M has had at least one athlete honored.
This fall, Curran was one of four Tribe student-athletes to start all 17 games. She racked up a team-high 22 points on 11 goals, a mark that was second in the CAA at the end of the regular season, and connected on three game-winning tallies. Curran, who made the
All-CAA First Team for the first time this season, also averaged 1.65 shots per game and posted a pair of two-goal games. Additionally, she enjoyed a three-game run that saw her score in each matchup.
William & Mary wrapped up the '22 season with a 9-8 overall record while going 3-3 in CAA play. The Tribe posted a trio of top-20 victories and spent six straight weeks in the national rankings.
