Women's Cross Country Set to Run at Friday's NCAA Southeast Regional Championship

WILLIAMSBURG V.a  -  The William & Mary women's cross country team heads back to the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship on Friday morning. Hosted by the University of Louisville, the Tribe is set to compete in the 6K regional course at E.P Tom Sawyer State Park at 11 a.m. The race can be followed live on Flash Results.

Scouting the Tribe:

- William & Mary finished fourth at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships last month. Sophomore Arianna DeBoer and freshman Sofia Istnick led nine Tribe runners, placing eighth and ninth overall to garner All-CAA honors.
 
- Istnick has been among the Green and Gold's most consistent performers all season, including a first-place finish at the Paul Short Run.
 
- Freshman Catherine Garrison also notched her own first-place finish this fall, placing No. 1 overall at the CNU Regional Preview. Additionally, she was W&M's top finisher at the Charlotte Opener. At the CAA Championship, she was 26th overall, crossing the finish line in 22:45.50.

- W&M put seven harriers in the top-50 at the CAA Championship, while all nine Tribe runners finished in the top-70 of the 101-participant field.
 
- The Tribe's youth movement will continue at Regionals with four true freshmen and three sophomores set to run.  
 
- Following the NCAA Regionals, the top 31 Division I teams will have the chance to compete at the 2022 NCAA Championships on Nov. 19 at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Ok.
 
Scouting The Region:
The Southeast region includes teams from Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Thirty-nine teams are set to compete in the meet:
 
Appalachian State, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Citadel, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Duke, East Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Elon, Furman, George Mason, High Point, James Madison, Kentucky, Liberty, Longwood, Louisville, Morehead State, Murray State, NC State, Norfolk State, North Carolina, Northern Kentucky, Radford, Richmond, South Carolina, UNC-Asheville, UNC-Greensboro, UNCW, USC Upstate, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Western Carolina, Western Kentucky, William & Mary, and Winthrop.
