#20 Field Hockey Hosts Pair of Homecoming Weekend CAA Matches

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — No. 20 William & Mary field hockey returns to the friendly confines of Busch Field this Homecoming weekend for a pair of matches against CAA foes. The Tribe hosts Delaware on Friday for a 6 p.m. start, before squaring off against Drexel at 12 p.m. on Sunday. Both games will be broadcast on FloLive.

William & Mary and the Blue Hens have a storied history. The teams have met nine times over the past five seasons, including four postseason matchups. And while Delaware holds an advantage during that span, one of the Tribe's victories came in the 2018 CAA Title Game.

W&M opened this season's CAA campaign in exciting fashion last Friday, defeating Monmouth 2-1 in a shootout. Graduate student Aidan Rossman converted the eighth-round winner, while junior goalkeeper Maddie George shined between the pipes. The Tribe then battled No. 7 Virginia through 50-plus minutes of scoreless play on Sunday but couldn't keep the Cavaliers off the board down the stretch. W&M fell 3-0 to the Cavaliers in the team's sixth match of the season against a nationally-ranked opponent.

The Green and Gold, which owns three wins over top-20 teams this fall, earned a national ranking for the fifth-straight week, coming in at No. 20 on Tuesday.
