Pair of Tribe Runners Capture All-CAA Honors

NEWARK, Del. – The dynamic duo of sophomore Arianna DeBoer and freshman Sofia Istnick led the way for William & Mary women's cross country on Friday morning at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship. The pair garnered All-CAA honors, finishing in the top-10 as W&M placed fourth overall with 106 points.

Elon won its fourth-straight team title with 30 points. Northeastern (49) finished second, while first-year CAA squad Stony Brook rounded out the top three with 91 points. Northeastern's Abigail Hassman won the 6K meet at White Clay Creek State Park in 21:12.70.

DeBoer finished eighth overall with a time of 21:51.50, after hitting a second gear late in the race. At the 1.4-mile split, DeBoer sat in 14th place before moving up to 10th at the three-mile-mark. Her final split then saw her advance two more spots for her best-ever finish at the CAA Championship.

Istnick wasn't far behind, either. Following a quick start at the beginning of the race, she settled into her pace and crossed the finish line in ninth with a time of 21:51.90.

W&M put seven harriers in the top-50, while all nine Tribe runners finished in the top-70 of the 101-participant field. Freshman Catherine Garrison was 26th overall in 22:46.50 and sophomore Lucy Young placed 30th in 22:53.70.
