EARLYSVILLE, Va. – William & Mary men's cross country ran against a stacked field that included six teams either in the national rankings or receiving votes and 13 regionally-ranked programs at the Virginia XC23 Invitational on Saturday morning. The Tribe, which entered the event ranked No. 15 in the Southeast Region, placed three harriers in the top 100 on the way to finishing 13th in the 8k.
For the second straight year, sophomore
Jacob Jones led the Green and Gold at Panorama Farms, placing 66th in the field of 176. Jones crossed the finish line at 24:25.5. Fellow sophomore
Nate Jennings followed in 91st at 24:56.9.
Graduate student
T.J. Corliss improved 18 spots over the final 3k to finish 100th in a time of 25:07.5.
Luke Ellwood continued his strong freshman season, moving up 17 spots over the last 3k, to place 107th in 25:12.8.
No. 7-ranked Wake Forest won the event with 47 total points, followed by the host team, No. 19 Virginia (68), and No. 18 Texas (102). No. 30 Charlotte rounded out the top four at 116 points.

The Tribe looks to defend its conference crown at the CAA Cross Country Championships in Newark, Del. at White Clay Creek State Park. The event is slated for Friday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m.
