EDISTO BEACH, S.C. – William & Mary women's golf shaved off strokes in each of its final two rounds at the Edisto Island Invitational, culminating in the 15th-best 54-hole team total in school history. The Green and Gold moved up to finish ninth at the 14-team event with an 894 (+42).
 
After a difficult opening round for all teams on Sunday, the Tribe fired back-to-back rounds that ranked among the program's best 25. W&M shot a 9-over 293 on Monday and followed it up with a 7-over 291. The ladder was the 12th-best 18-hole team score in school history.
 
Individually, sophomore Emma Lu led the Tribe in her first action of the fall. She shot a 9-over 222 to earn a share of 21st. Lu closed out the event strong with an even-par 71 on Tuesday. She led the Invitational with 42 pars.
 
Freshman Simone Senk and senior Mikah McDonnell both earned a share of 35th place. Senk shot her first career round under par in Monday's second round with a 1-under 70 behind four birdies. McDonnell finished the tournament ranked third in the field in par-5 scoring at 4-under par.
 
Freshman Grace Lu finished in 40th with a 228. She closed the event strong with a 74 (+3) on Tuesday. Classmate Avery Thompson led the Tribe with eight birdies over her three rounds. After a tough start on Sunday, Thompson posted back-to-back rounds of 1-over 72.

The Tribe closes out the fall season when it travels to the Lady Blue Hen Invitational, Oct. 15-16, at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
