RICHMOND, VA.- Coming off a tremendous spring season that saw her dubbed First Team All-CAA, Tribe volleyball's Julia Brown was selected to the preseason All-CAA team as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon. Brown is the first Tribe volleyball player to earn preseason honors since the 2013 season. 
 
The middle blocker was tremendous in the Covid shortened spring campaign ranking sixth in the league with a .287 hitting percentage. Dominant on the offensive side of the net, Brown had at least 18 kills on three of her seven matches played last spring and went for double-digit kills on five occasions. 
 
Over her outstanding career Brown has etched her name into the William & Mary record books and will look to move further up the ranks of the all-time greats to don the Green and Gold this season. The Geneva, Ill. native enters her final season with the Tribe ranking sixth under the current scoring format with 703 kills and second with 301 total blocks. 
 
Last season, Brown was joined on the all-conference team by Kate Dedrick making the pair the first William & Mary teammates to earn CAA honors in the same season since the Tribe had three players recognized in the 2009 season. Brown has the opportunity to be the first William & Mary player to repeat as an all-league selection since Sydney Biniak had back to back all-conference seasons in 2016-17. 
 
Brown and the rest of the Tribe will host Christopher Newport University for a scrimmage this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Kaplan Arena before beginning the regular season next weekend with a pair of matches hosted by Northern Illinois.
