A Look at the Tribe
W&M enters Wednesday's contest with a 3-7 record overall and a 0-2 mark in conference play.
The Tribe currently leads the Colonial Athletic Association in caused turnovers per game (9.3) and ground balls per game (19.8), while it is second in free position shooting percentage (.484).
Individually,
Belle Martire leads the team in goals (35) and points (44), as she ranks fourth nationally in free position goals per game (1.6) and fifth in free position shooting percentage (.762). Additionally, she ranks third in the conference with 4.2 draw controls per game.
Defensively, Caroline Herzberg (1.62),
Courtney Vasquenza (1.4),
Caroline Donovan (1.2) and
Sabrina Schrader (1.1) all rank among the league's top 10 in caused turnovers per game.
Scouting JMU
After a stretch in which it lost three of four contests, JMU has bounced back with back-to-back wins in its last pair of games, including a 14-12 triumph at then-No. 15 Towson on Sunday. The Dukes currently owns a 7-4 record overall and a 1-1 mark in conference play. Three of the four Dukes' four losses this season have come against nationally ranked opponents.
As a team, JMU ranks fifth nationally in scoring defense (8.09) and 11th in assists per game (7.45).
Individually, Kacey Knobloch leads JMU with 35 points (18g, 17a), while Isabella Peterson has totaled 32 points with a team-high 22 goals. Goalie Molly Dougherty ranks seventh in the country in goals against average (8.16) and in save percentage (.519).

JMU owns a 35-34-1 edge in the all-time series. After winning five consecutive games against JMU from 2005-09, the Tribe has lost the last 13 meetings.
Last Meeting vs. JMU
W&M concluded its 2021 home slate with a 14-4 setback to James Madison at Busch Turf last Wednesday afternoon. Although the Tribe jumped out to a 3-2 advantage, JMU held W&M scoreless for a span of more than 36 minutes en route to rattling off 10 unanswered goals.

Friday's contest will mark the fifth time in 11 games W&M has played a nationally ranked opponent.
Martire Honored as CAA Player of the Week Twice
W&M standout
Belle Martire has been selected as the CAA Player of the Week twice this season. She garnered her first accolade of the year following a seven-point, eight-draw control effort in the win against Longwood. Martire was honored a second time after recording eight points (7g, 1a) with eight draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls in the victory against Campbell.
Martire Eclipses 100-Goal Mark
Belle Martire became the 21st player in school history to reach the 100-goal mark with her hat trick against Radford. She currently has 108 career goals, which ranks 18th on W&M's all-time list, while her 125 points ranks 21st.
Among W&M's All-Time Best
Goalie
Elsa Rall currently ranks fourth on the Tribe's all-time saves list with 460 career stops. She needs 24 more to move into a tie for third with Jacque Orsi (1997-00), who finished her career with 484 stops.
Starr Howard also ranks among the Tribe's best in draw controls and ranks eighth all-time with 101. She needs eight more to move into a tie for seventh with Morgan Lang (2003-06), who finished her career with 109 DC.
Record-Setting Performance
Belle Martire equaled her own single-game school record with 10 points and nearly matched her own single-game record with eight goals in the Tribe's 19-11 victory at Old Dominion earlier this season.
