- After not meeting during the regular season due to COVID-19 protocols, W&M faces Northeastern in the CAA Quarterfinals. It marks the fourth time the teams have met in the CAA Tournament and the first since the 2015 championship game. The Huskies hold a 2-1 advantage, winning in the 2015 title contest (72-61) and the 2012 first round (57-49). The Tribe's lone win came in the 2010 semifinals (47-45).
- W&M is 3-4 all-time vs. the No. 2 seed in the CAA Tournament. The Tribe's three wins over No. 2 seed came in 2014 (Towson, 75-71), 2010 (Northeastern, 47-45) and 1988 (American, 76-75). On Saturday, the Tribe picked up its second win as the No. 7 seed in the CAA Tournament and the first since the 1988 win over American. The Tribe is 9-18 all-time in the CAA quarterfinals, including a 5-2 mark in the last seven years.
- In the first-round win over UNCW, W&M turned in its best defensive performance of the season. The Green and Gold limited the Seahawks to 31.9% from the field which was the team's best defensive field goal % in 2020-21. It was also the second-best for the program in its CAA Tournament history, trailing only the 27.5% effort in the 2001 quarterfinals vs. ODU. The 60 points were the lowest since holding Hampton to 58 on Dec. 16. The Tribe is 4-1 this season and 16-3 under head coach
Dane Fischer when holding foes to less than 70 points. W&M is also 3-1 this season and 13-2 over the last two year when holding teams to less than 40% shooting from the field.
- The Tribe owned the glass in its CAA Tournament win over the Seahawks on Saturday. W&M outrebounded UNCW, 45-33, and the plus-12 on the boards was a season-high. The 45 rebounds were the second-highest total for the Tribe in a CAA Tournament game behind only its 49 vs. Old Dominion in the 2001 quarterfinals. The rebounding margin was W&M's best in the tournament since it was plus 15 vs. Towson in 2004.
- The Tribe connected 19-of-21 at the free throw line vs. UNCW, marking its second game of shooting better than 90% this season. It was the program's second-best free throw % in the CAA Tournament. On the year, the Tribe ranks third in the CAA and 45th nationally at 75.5%, which is also the fourth-best percentage in school history. W&M is 6-4 on the year when hitting more free throws than its opponent.
- Individually, all five Tribe starters shoot 70% or better from the free throw line, including four over 78%. Three of those players rank among the top 15 in the CAA. Senior

- In each of its last nine games and 10 of 16 contests overall this season, the Tribe started three freshmen. In total, W&M rookies have comprised 51.3% (41-of-80) of the team's starts and 44.9% (1447-of-3225) of its minutes. According to KenPom.com, the Tribe is the 34th youngest team in the country in terms of experience (1.17). Prior to this season, the Tribe had started three freshmen in a game eight total times since the 1989-90.
- As the Tribe's lone scholarship senior,
Luke Loewe has stepped into a starring role in 2020-21 on his way to earning All-CAA Second Team honors. He ranks sixth in the CAA in scoring at 16.1 points per game. Loewe, who led the Tribe with 17 points in the first round vs. UNCW, scored a career-high 27 at Hofstra on Jan. 2, one of his five 20-point games this season. He also ranks second in the CAA in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0), fourth in minutes (35.8), fifth in steals (1.4) and eighth in assists (3.1).
- Freshman
Connor Kochera became the fourth Tribe player to be named the CAA Rookie of the Year, joining a list that includes Thomas Roberts (1990), Corey Cofield (2004) and Omar Prewitt (2014). He ranks 13th in the CAA in scoring (14.1) and 15th in rebounding (4.8). His scoring average is the 14th-highest among freshmen nationally and the best for a Tribe rookie since John Lowenhaupt in 1975. Kochera averaged 15.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in CAA play, becoming just the second rookie since 1992-93, along with Ryan Daly (2016-17 at Delaware), to average at last 15 points and five rebounds per game in league action.
- Over the last seven games, Kochera, who tied for team-high scoring honors with 17 on Saturday, is averaging nearly 20 points per game (19.3) and has produced four 20-point games. In the Tribe's 75-74 win over Towson on Jan. 31, Kochera totaled 30 points and 12 rebounds, marking the only 30-point, 10-rebound double-double in the CAA this season. It was also one of just three 30-10 double-doubles by a freshman in the country this season, joining Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma State) and Rayshon Harrison (Presbyterian).
- For the second-straight season, the Tribe had a pair of CAA All-Defensive Team selection in Loewe and junior
Mehkel Harvey. Loewe became the sixth W&M player to be named to the CAA All-Defensive Team in multiple seasons after also earning the honor last year, while Harvey is the 10th W&M player to be named to the All-Defensive Team. Harvey leads the CAA and ranks 21st nationally at 2.4 blocked shots per game. He is also 10th in the league in rebounding at six per game.
