RICHMOND, VA.- Tribe volleyball opposite side hitter
Kate Dedrick has been named CAA Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league Monday afternoon following an exceptional opening weekend. Dedrick's 43 kills over just eight sets helped lead the Green and Gold to a pair of 3-1 wins over Elon this past weekend.
Dedrick started the 2021 spring season on a torrent pace racking up a career-high 25 kills Friday night. The 25 kills in a four-set match tied the most by any Tribe player under the current scoring format, and Dedrick did it hitting an impressive .429 on the evening.
As an encore the lefty delivered her first career double-double in Saturday's 3-1 victory. Her 18 kills tied for a team lead but the graduate student also helped out on the defensive end with a career-high 13 digs to limit Elon offensively.
After a pair of matches, Dedrick leads all CAA players with 5.83 kills per set and ranks seventh in the league with a .333 hitting percentage. The Tribe will look to stay hot as the team travels to Charleston for a pair of matches with the Cougars next weekend.
