Women's Basketball Heads to UMES Tuesday Night

 paWILLIAMSBURG, Va. –  The William & Mary women's basketball team travels to compete against University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Tuesday evening. Tip-off at the Hytche Athletic Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. Fans can pay to watch on UMES Facebook Live.

W&M News and Notes
 - William & Mary will face UMES Tuesday night at Hytche Athletic Center. In 2019, the Tribe defeated the Eastern Shore Hawks 78-50 at Kaplan Arena. 
 
- Last time out, the Tribe won 65-54 Friday night against George Mason at Kaplan Arena. W&M had 14 assists, and 45 rebounds. Graduate student Sydney Wagner led the team with 21 points, while graduate student Riley Casey scored 20 points and finished 8-of-12 from the field and 4-of-8 from the 3-point arc. Kate Sramac led the Tribe with 12 rebounds. 
 
- The  Tribe  returns  two  starters  from  last  season,  while  adding  six  newcomers  to the roster.
 
Riley Casey has scored double digits in each of the last two outings. In her last game, Riley Casey set a season best with 20 points, with 10 in overtime, against George Washington. Riley Casey ranks third in 3-point field-goals made  in  the CAA at 2.50 per game. 
 
-  Wagner  led  the  Tribe  and  was  in  the  top-ten  nationally,  playing  38.3  minutes  per   game   last   season.   Over   two   seasons   in   Williamsburg,   the   guard   has   amassed  1,122  minutes  played.  Bre  Bellamy  has  also  reached  the  1,000  mark,  playing   1,016   minutes   in   the   Green   and   Gold.   Bellamy   contributed   off   the   bench, scoring 6.6 points per game and grabbing 4.2 rebounds per game.
 
-Transfer   guard   Riley   Casey   spent   her   first   three   collegiate   seasons   playing   for  Columbia,  before  joining  the  Tribe  for  graduate  school.  During  her  time  in  New  York,  Casey  played  1750  minutes  and  scored  644  points.  The  Tennessee  native averaged over 10.5 points per game over 61 contests.-  Transfer  Kate  Sramac  stuffed  the  stat  sheet  over  three  seasons  with  Cornell  before  coming  to  Williamsburg.  While  in  Ithaca,  Sramac  recorded  747  minutes  and  scored  176  points.  Sramac  added  98  rebounds,  67  assists,  and  48  steals  with the Big Red.
 
- Freshmen Dani McTeer, individually is ranked 8th in the CAA for field-goal percentage .583%.  
 
- W&M    head    coach    Ed    Swanson    enjoyed    a    noteworthy    2019-20    season    individually.  He  was  named  the  CAA  Co-Coach  of  the  Year  following  the  Tribe's  historic  season.  Swanson  won  his  500th  career  game  on  Nov.  26,  became  just  the  third  coach  in  W&M  history  to  win  100  games  with  the  Tribe  on  Jan.  12,  and was inducted into the Northeast Conference Hall of Fame in January.
 
-The Tribe ranks third in the CAA in rebounding with a team average of 36.50 boards per game. 

-Assistant   Coach   Kenia   Cole   is   the   newest   member   of   the   Tribe.   Cole   comes   to   the   Tribe   after   spending   the   last   two   years   as   an   assistant   at   Hampton   University.   Cole   has   four   years   of   experience   on   the   bench,   beginning   with   Oberlin  College  in  the  2017-18  season  when  she  helped  the  team  take  home  their first ever North Coast Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship.
