WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- William & Mary volleyball will travel to Hofstra this weekend for a pair of matches with the Pride on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend will mark the first CAA road contests for the Tribe this season and Sunday's match will be number 100 in the illustrious career of middle blocker
Julia Brown.

The Green and Gold enter the weekend with a 3-6 mark overall and will be hunting for the team's first CAA win of the season. Hofstra holds a 9-8 record and is an even 3-3 in league play. Through three weekends, the Pride has split conference series with Towson, Northeastern, and most recently Delaware.Â

Brown has been a staple in the Tribe lineup since coming to campus in 2017. Brown was an All-CAA First Team pick in the spring and graduated with a degree in Biology. She returned to campus this fall to pursue her MBA.

On the floor Julia has been one of the most dominant players to don the Green and Gold. Under the current scoring format, Brown ranks fifth in William & Mary history with 801 kills. She is second among all Tribe athletes with 331 total blocks under the current scoring format.Â

This season, Brown has continued her high standard of play living up to her preseason All-CAA honors. The middle blocker has 98 kills on the season and ranks third in the CAA with 3.06 per set. Brown also ranks third in the league with a .353 hitting percentage- among the top 80 in the NCAA. On the defensive side of the net, the Illinois native has recorded 15 blocks in 14 CAA sets in 2021.Â

Anna Porter eclipsed the 100 career assist mark and moved into 15th in the William & Mary record book with her 36th career service ace. In addition the Libero ranks ninth among all Tribe players with 590 career digs and is sixth in the league with 3.84 this season.Â

William & Mary is third in the CAA behind Elon and Towson with 12.25 kills per set this season. Brown (3.06),
Maddie Meyers (2.71), Laure Merrill (2.44),
Sabrina Malcolm (1.89), and
Anne Louise Seekford (1.69) all average over a kill per set.Â

The Tribe also ranks third in the league in assists per frame with 11.28.
Amy Schwem has 242 assists in her first season as a collegiate setter and is fifth in the CAA with 7.56 assists per set.
Kate Van Houten has 80 assists on the year and is just 37 from the 500 mark in her career.Â

Sophomore
Sabrina Malcolm has been a defensive force for the Tribe ranking sixth in the league with 1.04 blocks per game. Fellow middle,
Julia Brown has recorded at least three blocks in all four conference matches and had nine in just seven sets last weekend.Â

Meyers has come into her own in the past five outings for the Tribe. The sophomore has been one of the team's most pin attackers racking up 42 kills in just 17 sets. Maddie has averaged nearly 8.5 kills in the five matches she has started this season.
