Field Hockey Returns Home for Final Regular Season Match Against JMU

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary field hockey team (3-11, 3-2 CAA) competes in its last regular season match of the season at home against James Madison (10-6, 5-0 CAA) on Friday at the Busch Field at 6 p.m. The match will be streamed on FloLive.

Things to Know
- The Green and Gold (3-11, 3-2 CAA) just got off the road competing against ranked teams Virginia and Old Dominion. W&M lost to No. 16 UVA, 5-1, and to No. 15 ODU, 2-1.

- Friday will be senior day for the Tribe. W&M will honor its three-member senior class of Cara Menges, Kimi Jones and Rachel Gantz for their contributions to the program prior to the match with JMU. The trio helped in leading the Tribe to its first CAA Championship in 2018.

- JMU holds a 44-29-10 advantage in the all-time series. The Dukes topped W&M in Harrisonburg, 4-0, last season. It snapped a three-match winning streak in the series for the Tribe, which included a 5-2 win in Williamsburg in 2019. 

- James Madison (10-6, 5-0 CAA) split its games last week, defeating Drexel in a conference matchup. The Dukes' offense scored six goals led by Eveline Zwager, who tallied a career-high eight points on four goals. Zwager recorded her first goal in the second quarter to give JMU a 2-0 lead. JMU's most recent lost was against No. 4 Louisville, 1-0. The Dukes have already secured the top seed in the league tournament with a 5-0 mark in conference play.

- In the Tribe's most recent match against ODU, junior Lauren Curran scored her seventh goal of the year. Curran leads the team in goals (7), points (15) and game-winning goals (2).

- Senior Cara Menges ranks sixth nationally with five defensive saves this season.

- Freshman Pyper Friedman was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Oct 5. Friedman tallied the decisive conversation in the Tribe's 3-2 shootout win over Hofstra . She also added her first career goal in W&M's 4-3 win over Northeastern.

- Junior Tabby Billingham, an All-CAA Second Team pick in the spring, shares team-high honors in assists honors with Menges. Each player has three helpers on the season. She assisted on a goal in the opener against Penn State, one against Longwood and one against No.16 Virginia. 

- Senior Kimi Jones had a season-high of nine saves in back-to-back games against Drexel and Delaware. She tallied her third career shutout against the Dragons.

- With its win over Drexel on Oct. 15, W&M secured a spot in the CAA Championship for the sixth-straight season. The Tribe will be one of the four teams in Newark, Del., competing for the league crown, Nov. 5-7.
