- In CAA play, the Tribe (3-8-3, 1-3-3 CAA) has been one of the league's top defenses. W&M has shutout four of its seven league opponents, which tops the conference in shutout % (57.1). Over its last five CAA matches, W&M has not allowed a goal in regulation. The Tribe is tied for the league lead with just five goals allowed in seven conference contests.

Zoe Doughty has been on a roll in CAA play, allowing just two goals over five matches, including zero goals in regulation. She tops the league in save % (94.6), saves per game (7.0), goals against average (0.34) and shutout % (60).
- With scoreless draws against Drexel (Oct. 10), Hofstra (Oct. 17) and Elon (Oct. 21), W&M posted three-straight shutouts for the first time in six years. The Tribe last posted three clean sheets in a row when it hard four from Oct. 9-18 in 2015. All four of those shutouts were in CAA play as well.
- Delaware enters Thursday's contest at 5-9-2 overall and 2-3-2 in CAA play. The Blue Hens own league wins over Northeastern and Towson by matching 2-1 score lines at home. Both UD draws were 1-1 scores against Drexel and Elon. Most recently, Delaware suffered a 3-1 setback at UNCW. Sara D'Appolonia leads UD with eight points on three goals and two assists. Lauren Krinsky has stated 15 matches in goal and sports a GAA of 1.80 with 51 saves.
- W&M holds a 14-4-3 advantage in the all-time series with Delaware, but the Blue Hens have won each of the last two contests, including a 1-0 double OT win in Williamsburg in 2019. Prior to the back-to-back UD wins, the Tribe has won five in a row in the series, including a 2-1 double OT win in Williamsburg in 2017.
- Thanks to a recent hot streak, Northeastern sits at 7-7-1 overall and 4-3 in CAA play. The Huskies have won four of their last five matches, including wins over Towson (1-0 in 2OT), James Madison (1-0), then-No. 6 Hofstra (1-0) and most recently over Charleston (2-1) on Sunday. NU hosts Drexel on Thursday before heading to Williamsburg. Mikenna McManus leads NU with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Angeline Friel has started the last four matches for the Huskies in goal. She has a GAA of 0.89 to go with 48 saves.
- Northeastern has won seven of the last eight meetings between the teams and owns a 9-5-4 advantage in the all-time series. The last Tribe win in the series with a 3-1 triumph in Williamsburg in 2015. Most recently, NU tallied a 2-1 win in Boston in 2019.
- Doughty was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. It marked the second time in her career that she won the honor. Doughty recorded a career-high 10 saves in shutting out the league's top-scoring offense in Hofstra. She also earned a spot on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week and was selected honorable mention by Top Drawer Soccer.
- The Tribe's scoreless draw at No. 6-ranked Hofstra on Oct. 17 was the program's first result against a nationally-ranked opponent since picking up a win over No. 25 Georgetown in 2015. It was the highest-ranked result (win or tie) for the Green and Gold since a 1-0 win over No. 2-ranked North Carolina in 2007.
- Freshman
Riley Friesen, who was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Sept. 26, is one of only two Tribe players to start all 14 matches this season. A leader along the backline, she leads the team in minutes played, having been on the field for 1332 of 1339 total minutes this season.
- The Tribe roster consists mainly of freshmen and sophomores with 18 of the 30 student-athletes coming from those two classes. In total 15 of those 18 have seen game action in 2021, including 10 that have earned starts. In total, eight of W&M's 10 freshmen have seen action.
- W&M alumna Kathy Carter '91 was recently elevated to chief executive of the Organizing Committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. She previously served as the Chief Revenue Officer of LA28 since 2018. Carter, who earned her degree in government, was a standout goalie for the Tribe from 1987-90 and still holds the school record of a 0.78 goals-against-average.
- The Tribe has enjoyed great success in the classroom recently. As a team, W&M sports a 3.53 cumulative GPA, following a 3.6 semester in the spring. In total, 30 W&M student-athletes earned CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll distinction last year and 23 received W&M Provost Award honors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Tribe alum and two-time World Cup winner Jill Ellis '88 was named the president of the latest National Women's Soccer League expansion team in San Diego in June. The team will start play in NWSL beginning in the Spring of 2022.
