WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- William & Mary women's basketball (5-6, 2-4 CAA) is back on the road this weekend traveling to the Palmetto State for a pair of matchups with College of Charleston (4-2, 0-0 CAA). The Tribe will look build on a convincing 69-53 win last time out against Drexel, while the Cougars will be playing their first games since Dec. 19 due to COVID related issues. Both games are set for a 1:00 p.m. tip time and will be streamed on FloHoops.
In lieu of a traditional, home‐and‐home round robin schedule, teams will play against the same opponent at the same site on consecutive days for the 2021 CAA slate. The lone exception will be when teams face their designated travel partner, which is Elon for the Tribe.

- William & Mary returns to the road after splitting a pair of matchups with Drexel at Kaplan Arena last weekend. The Tribe saw
Sydney Wagner (22),
Bre Bellamy (19), and
Bailey Eichner (13) score in double figures. Eichner was just short of a triple-double with 13 rebounds and eight assists. The Tribe shot nearly 50% from the field against one of the league's best defenses.
- The Tribe has won three straight against the Cougars including a sweep during the 2019-20 season. WM bested Charleston 80-74 last time the teams met at TD Arena.
- Junior
Sydney Wagner has been a scoring machine for the Tribe, dropping at least 20 points in six of her last nine outings. The guard is averaging 22.2 points per game over that span and posted a career-high 31 points in a William & Mary loss at Delaware on 1/10/21. She was named CAA Player of the Week on December 21.
- Wagner has been deadly from deep for Coach Swanson's team. The junior leads the CAA with 40 three-point baskets (5th in the NCAA) and is shooting 40% from behind the arc. In her 31-point explosion at Delaware, Wagner shot 7-14 from three-point range. The seven made threes in a single game rank second in WM history.
- With 13 assists over the Tribe's last four games, Nyla Pollard pushed herself into the WM all-time top-15 with 252 career dimes. Pollard ranks sixth in the CAA in assist to turnover ratio at 1.5 and fourth in total assists with 29.
- Bailey Eichner put up a career-high 13 points Sunday but the senior has got it done all year on the boards. Eichner ranks sixth in the league with 7.9 rebounds per game and is second with 6.6`defensive rebounds per contest. Eichner is also ranked sixth in the CAA averaging just over one block per game.
- A key to the Tribe's success has been the effort on the defensive end of the floor. Coach Swanson's team ranks second in the conference in scoring defense allowing just 62.0 points per game. The Green and Gold have produced extraordinary defense from the three-point line. The Tribe ranks first among all CAA teams and 21 nationally holding teams to 24.3% from behind the arc (39-161).
- Chaniqwa Gilliam made her first career start against Hofstra on 1/2/21 and has been a big part of the WM offense since. The sophomore has averaged over 8 points per game over the Tribe's last four contests. Gilliam has added 11 rebounds and 11 assists since being added to the starting five. She has shot over 50% from the field in three of her six starts.
- Sydney Wagner and Nyla Pollard have been staples in the Tribe's lineup and on the floor. Wagner ranks second among all CAA players with 38.0 minutes played per game, playing all 40 minutes on six occasions, while Pollard ranks eighth in the league with 34.1 minutes per contest. The pair also lead the Tribe in points (Wagner- 20.7 ppg, Pollard- 7.9 ppg) and assists (Pollard- 29, Wagner 23).
- The Tribe knocked down a season-high 10 3-pointers in the victory over Navy. W&M ranks first in the CAA with 204 triples on the year. It marked the 15th time under head coach Ed Swanson that W&M made double-digit 3-pointers in a game, and the Tribe improved to 11-4 in those contests.
- The Tribe held two opponents this season to less than 50 points. Under head coach Ed Swanson, the Tribe has held opponents to less than 50 points in 27 games and are 26-1 in those contests. W&M has also held its foes to either zero or one 3-pointer in a game on 21 occasions, including one at Mason.
