Coaches vs. Cancer Set for Thursday Night vs. James Madison

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – When William & Mary hosts James Madison on Thursday, the game will mark more than just the 99th meeting in the state rivalry. It will be the program's Coaches vs. Cancer game, a night to help increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living.

The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Since 1993, coaches have raised over $100 million for the American Cancer Society.

The color lavender represents all forms of cancer. On Thursday night, fans are encouraged to wear lavender, pick up a lavender ribbon at the marketing table and fill out a "I fight for" card in honor of loved ones who have bravely fought cancer. In honor of Coaches vs. Cancer, the first 400 students in attendance against the Dukes will receive a One Tribe. One Fight t-shirt.

This week, January 20-26, is Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week. A nationwide event, basketball coaches across the country unite for a common cause – saving lives from cancer! Head coach Dane Fischer and his staff, along with the opposing team's staffs, will wear sneakers with their suits during this weeks' games to raise awareness and help save lives from cancer by raising funds and encouraging people to educate themselves about cancer prevention, screening, and early detection.

Fans interested in supporting Coaches vs. Cancer, can donate via PledgeIt.org.
